It's a good song but due to the love that the shit hoppers have given this song, over the years, it has been severely, and I do mean severely overplayed. Andy is a four letter word.

It's true though. | |

Being that I'm an old fogey ( or is it fogie? ), I hardly listen to the hip-hop, so, from my perspective, this song doesn't come off as overplayed.

I kind of feel it got overplayed. Flashlight, too.
But that's what happens to virtually every classic on the radio. My Legacy

It's more about how it has become a DJ staple due to its (hiphop) popularity. True. It gets to where DJs will only play "Atomic Dog" rather than "Loopzilla" or "Bullet Proof". The same goes with The Isley Brothers "Between The Sheets" and Lakeside's "Fantastic Voyage". Not only with radio airplay, but also the albums that the record companies will release on CD. I've seen Lakeside's "Fantastic Voyage" CD in the record store with a sticker that reads "Contains the hit 'Fantastic Voyage' which was sampled by Coolio". Well, duh, how bout releasing or stocking some other Lakeside albums. Andy is a four letter word.

It's still a funky song no matter how much it has been sampled. That just proves how important it was to folks of younger generations. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Well, I'd definitely call it overplayed. It's still the jam, though. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

This isn't just a cool funk song,
it a cool song period. I'll even venture so far as to put it up there with the Final Countdown.

i kind of hate this song "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

It's no doubt the "Dawg" is still a crowd pleaser. Especially @ the wee hours of the party "WOOF".

I agree AND disagree- the BEST EVER sample of "Atomic Dog" was in "Teddy's Jam 2" by Guy. That groove made me wanna slap the shit outta somebody!!!!! And GET THIS- "Atomic Dog" made "Teddy's Jam 2" better than the ORIGINAL "Teddy's Jam" which was the shit unto itself!!!!! And even though it's been "done to death", AD will still get a party crackin' in a hot ghetto second!!!!! Other than that I AGREE!!!!! [Edited 12/27/07 6:39am]
