Scorpion

How fuckable he looked in that one video...
tho' I battled blind
love is a fate resigned
memories mar my mind
love it is a fate resigned

Over futile odds
and laughed at by the Gods
and now the final frame
Love is a losing game

Prince stated on cnn that he was a fan of Alicia Keys and He would like to see something new from D'angelo. I think this was back in 2004

I don't have all the quotes, but over the years I've seen artists from Prince To Meshell Ndegeocello to Dave Sanborn to Eric Clapton, to Roy Hargrove all give Props to D'angelo. I think they all heard the potential. A few years back, John Mayer wrote an open letter to D, begging him to come out of the shadows and make another album. "I'm writing to ask you to put out a follow-up to one of the few records to change my life forever, Voodoo," said Mayer in the letter to D'Angelo, printed in Esquire. "When Voodoo came out in 2000, I stood in line at Tower Records in Atlanta at midnight to get it . . . I'm no less excited by it today than I was when I played it full blast in my mother's Plymouth Voyager on the way to my bullshit job."

Musician Lewis Taylor also gave him big props--they had been fans of each other's work, and were supposed to collaborate, but never got to do it. A few years ago, keyboardist Bernard Wright mentioned in an interview that he thought D'angelo was one of the few artists out there these days really worth listening to...

Of course, this was all before he disappeared from the scene. It is troubling when you see Sly Stone more often these days than you see D'angelo...
