She exuded femininity and class. Something that was notably missing among the young women from her age and STILL missing. You could tell that she got alot of her persona from her upbringing, the charm school influence woulda been too pronounced and sometimes forced. I once saw an interview with her mother and I realized then that Babygirl was only a younger version of her mother.

Her mystique was part of her charm. But there was alot of melancholiness there which she hid very well, I never knew where it came from or why it happend. Not that I believe in astrology but she was a capricorn, and those who were born under that sign lean more on the melancholy side.

On the other side, she was a funny chic. If you guys could find her "MTV diaries" in youtube and watch it, you'll def discover a new side.

As for the music, I simply love her voice. Everything was so natural and the sexuality was part of her persona and growth. Again it didn't came outta the blue in one night, you could even tell from her debut album that she had it in her and it was a matter of time untill she grew up and used it very well.

YES she was sexy without really trying to be. She could just sit there in a long satin dress and oooze sex and dark seduction all at once

This is very interesting. My mother told me that even when I was a child, around 9 or 10, I would just stare at Aaliyah's videos and say "Look mom, watch her, she's so cool."

I'm a Capricorn as well. I've always felt that I was a happy person, but I never understood why people would constantly ask me "what's wrong?" Watching Aaliyah, with I guess that same melancholy vibe, just made her instantly click with me.

As I continue to admire her through-out the years, I would go to her site or read her articles and notice that she always mentioned "darker" things like loving to watch scary movies or read about vampires.

I won't say that I'm a sad person, or Aaliyah was a sad person but as light or as spiritual of a person that I feel I am, I still struggle with wondering why I'm intrigued by night, and just the "darker" side of life in general. I also still wonder why even in my lighter moods, people still take me so seriously. Maybe it is a capricorn thing.

Capricorn have that "serious" sense of humor lol

I love caps love I'm married to one, which is why I have a soft spot for ya'll.

Capricorns will hide under the TOUGHEST exterior to protect themselves I guess, hats because they're among the most sensitive people ever. Thats why its hard for them to trust anybody and thats also why they give a reserved 1st impression. Very self-protective.

On the other hand, the SHITTIEST trait a capricorn has is, they hold a grudge to dear life and once they get hurt, they don't 4give or forget that easily.

I never was a fan of her first album. Too much R.Kelly. In fact, on the
first album cover it was a picture of him in the corner of the album barely
seen by the naked eye. Pervert. lol
I'll admit her work on the second album became a little catchy particularly
one in a million and the movie track are you that somebody. I was more impressed with her talent as a budding actress more so than her music career. I even thought her very last cd was mediocre at best even though rock the boat
was hot. Nevertheless; it hurt my heart to see her die so young when she was just scratching the surface as an actor and singer.

I thought Aaliyah was alright when she first came out but when she came out with "One in a Million", that was when I took notice of her and became a fan. The stuff she did with Missy and Timbaland was truly innovative and hot. It got better with the "Aaliyah" CD cause you could see that she wasn't trying to do typical R&B and it was great.

I was crushed when I heard Aaliyah died. In fact, I found out about it here on the org first, back in the Black and Purple days. Someone here posted that info in the middle of a thread and I was like "No way!". So I went online and there was nothing at that point, but at 11pm, ALL the newscasts started with Aaliyah's death and then I knew it wasn't a joke. I was so heartbroken and it happened while I was in the middle of the worst summer of my life. I firmly believe she would have been a big superstar cause she was headed in that direction. She was real and not phony like a lot of female acts during and after her time. She was the bomb and she is missed greatly.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

She had no personality, she couldn't sing live, and she was a shit performer who fooled the kids with the aid of a choreographer / robot controller. Let's face it she was Janet Jackson, but with nicer features. And y'all are a bunch of hypocrites. You diss people like Joss Stone for supposedly "fucking for tracks", yet here's a girl who owes her whole career to sucking R Kelly's dick and none of you say anything. Goddamn phonies. lol

She was great and will be missed. She could do old school R&B, ballads (big soundtrack pop and R&B) and upbeat stuff and sound authentic nearly everytime out. A gifted singer who probably could have grown into a songwriter. Each album showed growth and who knows what could have happened with her career.

Its the truth, though.

DeVante and the Jodici crew kept everybody under their thumbs(Ginuwine, Playa, Tim, Missy, Sista, Tweet and loads of other people).

Tim & Missy's 1st chance of shine came through One In A Million.

Hot damn! all of us? falloff lol

Exactly how did Babygirl became the bad guy in the R.Kelly's situation? What a fucked up world we live in when we a condemn an underage child for being CLEARLY exploited,,,,even if she didn't mind.

Its the same situation as the Chris Stokes one, but with a less twisted scenario(Chris still do it and he's reported to have sex with his sister,,,YEP birth sister disbelief).

As for Joss Stone, I didn't condemn her for using sex either because then I have to condemn Mariah Carey, Diana Ross, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford and a looooong ass list of other entertainers who turned to sex to "control" their workplace. Do what you do and live with it, but don't act all self-righteous when you look @ other people,,,,thats my only problem with Joss, she was/is judgemental toward other female per4mers for their appearances when her shit stank something fierce, child.

And as for Babygirl's music, thats subjective nod so, I can understand that.
