Phil Spector crticiszes Tina Turner during Ike Turner funeral

Phil Spector criticised Tina Turner during his eulogy at Ike Turner’s funeral.

Ike Turner passed away last week (December 12) in San Diego.

According to Fox News, Spector laid into the singer during the funeral of the guitarist on Friday (December 21) at the Greater Bethany Community Church in Gardena California.

He said: Ike made Tina the jewel she was. When I went to see Ike play at the Cinegrill in the 90s…there were at least five Tina Turners on the stage performing that night, any one of them could have been Tina Turner
Spector then criticised Turner’s autobiography ’I, Tina’, he said :I have an ambivalence towards Oprah Winfrey. She made Tina Turner’s book into a bestseller which demonized and vilified Ike. The book wouldn’t have sold 10 books. It was badly written. It was a piece of trash and because Oprah idolized Tina she didn’t feel it wrong to vilify a brother.

Spector who produced the Ike and Tina track ’River Deep, Mountain High’ then slammed the film version of the book ’What's Love Got To Do With It’, he called it a piece of trash movie."

One crazed KILLER enabling an abuser disbelief

Motherfuckers all hell bent outta shape on R.Kelly and a creep criminal is on the loose yet nobody's saying SQUAT.

Funny how we 4get what we eat. Wasn't Phill one of the ones who participated in making the book? He was interviewed with full length and surely he had access to the final draft before it got released, he could've asked his parts to be deleted from the book.

All i know is that Phil Spector, OJ, Robert Blake should start a new group, "Killing Women is Easy". Phil Spector is a lunatic and has been since his early days, I remember back in 1984 Tina talking about Phil on the Letterman show and saying he was a great producer but made her feel uncomfortable. And of course we cannot forget Paul McCartneys opinions of Phil just from the work he did on "Let it Be". Heres the deal, you got money and celebrity, you can get away with any crime, whether its murder, rape, molesting, shoplifting, beating someone with your phone or blackberry,DUI etc....

Paul's take on him was more that he ruined everything Paul did with Let it Be and his songs, which was the reason why Paul got the rights to do "Let it Be" "naked" he felt Phil ruined the songs by adding all these strings and stuff on what they wanted to be a very stripped down album back in 1969

You should read Ronnie Spector's account of her marriage to Phil. Interesting, to say the least...

nod Indeed. Phil was another controling straight wife beater and like Tina, Ronnie was lucky to come out of the divorce with her stage name.

Come to think of it...

Phill's Wall Of Sound wouldn't work on "Let It Be" hmmm I can understand Paul's frustration. Even though I like Phill's production.

Woman abusers are going to support each other.

Phil was a pervert too.
I was shocked when i saw the doc about him on u.k t.v.

He made his son have sex with a woman when he was a kid. He blind folded him and tied him to a chair; something of that nature.

FUCK IKE!
Tina is amazing. I would still hit that; just like bowie did!

yeah i read this from another source as well, so I guessing that it was actually said and was true.

well everybody has their opinions about Ike and Tina's relationship. The man did eventually admit to abusing her, although he didn't call it "beating" up on her. The truth is, none of us but those two people and God actually know what really went on during their closed doors. So we can't judge Ike, and we can't judge Tina. Just admire them each for their contribution to music or don't.

And the real truth is, without Ike, there wouldn't had been no TINA TURNER.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Personally I think Phil did Paul a favor by putting all that stuff on the album. It covers up the crummy playing and largely bad writing. confused

Tina never said she was not grateful for Ike helping her with carreer but he beat her and the truth is the truth.

Phil is another nutbag and should be in prison for killing that woman.

And that still makes me laugh to this day. If Paul thinks those sappy strings don't fit an inherently sappy song like "The Long and Winding Road," he needs to listen again. Phil did a fantastic job on that one. nod

True dat. Phil Spector salvaged Let It Be and gave it some life. Let It Be ... Naked is flat and dull.

He's still going down for killing that actress though.

Well not really, i can understand's Paul's issue because he wanted Georgr Martin to do that kind of stuff not an outsider, but at that point George Martin wanted nothing to do with them, he thought they were finished as a group, until Paul called George and begged for him to produce another record and George said, only if let me do it my way, and paul said "ok, thats what we want" and George said, "really even john?". For the most part Let it Be, was really Pauls record and when it got shelved they thought the album wouldnt come out, so i can understand his issue with someone coming in and touching your stuff, lets not forget Phi, though he did good production in places, took off the guitar solo from let it Be, which was an electric guitar solo, that still is the superior version, rather than the string version with the guitar so low in the mix
