GM worship

it's also available as a single and on his more recent hits compilation "TWENTYFIVE" biggrin

Yeah, I need to pick up Twentyfive. I'm definitely going to now. I also need to get a collection of George's videos. The US misses out on a lot of his videos. Some I've still never seen. Thank goodness for YouTube.

GET IT ASAP! THE 3 DISC EDITION!

Oh, you should be able to get it for a cheap price used on Amazon or eBay.

I also really dig "Fantasy," which was the b-side to "Freedom" IIRC.

Wham's "Freedom" or "Freedom `90"?

It's from the European version of Ladies and Gentlemen. Apparently, Mary's record company didn't want it on the American version because of the scandal.

Mary didn't get permission from her record company to record this song. She had to secretly go to London to record the song and video. American urban radio started playing the song, but Geffen Records sent Cease and Decist letters threatening to sue any station for playing this song.

OK, now we just making shit up.

A) Why would Mary be sneaking around recording songs and filming videos?

B) "As" came out in 1998, 5 years before she signed with Geffen Records.

C) George discussed the Mary J. situation with John Norris on MTV when he premiered the "Outside" video. Everything was copasetic until his arrest/public outing. Soon after George's interview aired, the president of Mary's then-label Uptown Records, Andre Harrell, gave a statement to MTV News saying something to the effect that "As" was not included on the US-edition of 'Ladies and Gentlemen' because George was no longer a platinum selling artist in America. Therefore, it would not be good business sense to release the song in America. Translation: We'll ride your dick in the UK because you can give our girl some much needed international exposure. But we don't want to be seen with your newly-confirmed faggoty-ass in the US.

That's not made up. Do your research.

Radio stations here in the states had started playing As and it was doing well. MCA (at the time) sent letters to radio stations asking them to stop playing the song and threatened to sue the stations if they continued to spin the song. I know this for a fact because I worked at a station that received one of those letters.

BTW, Geffen Records boughout out MCA records. That's why I referred to them as Geffen and NOT MCA. They are the same company.
