Best album of all time
That's when soul was sexy/lustful as well as tender/spiritual This album feels like fuckin' with the woman/man of your dreams while sayin': "God, thank you" [Edited 12/21/07 11:27am]

Love it!
I Want You and What's Going On are better IMO, but that doesn't mean this one isn't phenomenal. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Man, this was one album I would call "SUPERBAD"!
Listen to the album for real to know what I'm truly talking about here, these are not words just coming from a fan of Marvin's, I experienced some of that guilt and pain but Marvin took it to a whole new level. Now that's funky. "Just To Keep You Satisfied" is one of those tracks that just stick in your veins like leeches and haunts you everytime you think about it or listen to it.It was so explicit in biographic detail that you're almost in Marvin's world of heartache. It's built around a sad and dark gothic-esque string quartet that solemnly carries on like somebody just died. The doo-wop backgrounds are classic and Marvin is in a depressed mood wondering if he and his soon-to-be-ex will ever find happiness apart as he solemnly put it at the end of the song. You could actually feel Marvin's tears on your ear phones as he sings "it's too late for you and me, too late for you and I, much too late for you to cry" over and over again. It is also the true prelude to another masterpiece he would craft five years later in which he entitled Here, My Dear. With this masterpiece of an album, Marvin taught all of us a valuable lesson: you can mix sensuality with spirituality, as long as it's coming deep from the roots of the soul. I think that's why this classic still rings true 30-something years later! Check me out and add me on:

I always loved this album and after reading both of Marvin's bio's. "Divded Soul" & "Trouble Man", and seeing what the inspiration was for this album made me love it even more. He was as true an artist as there ever will be
