what i don't understand about all this american idol crap is, they seem to be picking performers who are most at home in musical theatre, gospel and adult contemporary; then, when someone wins, their success is judged by how well they do in the mainstream top 40 pop charts. WTF?! granted, in this day and age, most top 40 music is adult contemporary, but it seems like most AI alum do much better on broadway or in specialized musical genres than when they're made out to be the next billboard #1 smash. it's silly. ruben seems talented enough, but is he going to fill an arena right now? no. might people go see him in a touring broadway show? probably. seems no-brainer-ish to me. | |

Good point. i realize that a recording contract is part of the prize on AI, but why can't they at least aim the lucky winner at a demographic that compliments the person's talent and musical inclination, or at least groom them in that direction as the hype dies down (as it inevitably does)? the way that show works now seems like such a waste of industry resources, not to mention all that perfectly adequate talent going down the drain. | |

Kelly dance some, but not a lot. So, I can't seem to justify your theory. I've seen J.Holiday dance.... that being said, he and R. Kelly are terrible | |

WTF are you talking about. Oh you think Carrie Underwood is smoking (LOL) That explains a lot.
----- ElectricBlue said: Ruben didnt win.. they gave it to him because of the Racial Issues of the show at the time. Plus they didnt want a Gay guy to win.
The ONLY one ever that is going to have a Career is Carrie Underwood because she is smokin Ugly People Fat People Dont make it in music for the long haul since MTV took over the music industry. Actually this might be the best time to have a career since the 1970's. Because MTV isnt music anymore. But over all TV Exposure, a Fat Guy who is more R&B/BET isnt going to make any real money. Maybe if he sings as a rapper mumbles crap next to him. kinda sad but thats the business | |

J Records Drops Ruben Studdard
It's not certain they can identify the person who was underneath, but they're hoping dental records or maybe DNA will work "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world." | |
