I remember 'A Funk Odyssey' was released a few weeks before Michael released 'Invincible'.I was thinking "Damn,Michael....these guys are making the type of music that YOU should be making!" Michael needs to get away from the rappers and lame R&B producers and try a real Old School approach, like Jamiroquai does.

I cant fucking stand Jamiroquai.
The shit sounds watered down to me, and Jay Kay has to be one of the most annoying, obnoxious frontmen in the history of music. Yes, they had some funk when Stuart was with them, he was the only decent person in that whole band and is a very talented player. I could give less than a fuck about that band without him in it. He is doing well now as well, playing with Mark Ronson and he did the bass on that Amy Winehouse cover of "Valerie" and the Lily Allen cover of "Oh My God". |

Yes, yes and yes again!!!! Well chuffed that someone has put this post up as I've actually dug out all my Jamiroquai CDs and brought them into to work to listen to them today!!
Jay Kay may come across as a bit of a berk in the press sometimes (and I'm not going to comment on that as I don't know the man) but he is a superb song writer and his band funked hard!! All his albums have a least a handful of great funky tunes, though some are indeed better than others. Being a musician as well, I second the comments of my fellow Orger who knows quality when he hears it...this band are truly underrated and should get props for the funky cats that they are. More power to you Jay Kay!!! www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

Ps..
I love u guys ! I knew almost exactly who would comment on this thread...Soul and Vain..I hear ya.. I hate Hip Hop with a passion..My point earlier was that they were able to break through the doors at a time when people were a zillion light years away from thinking old school live funk could be a marketable thing ! They were Genius in the way they were able to be HOT,Trendy..against the grain, Musical, Live..Old school and Modern at the same time. [Edited 12/20/07 6:47am]

I agree with the original poster. Jamiroquai made some great stuff from 1993-1996, but after that they just became a cheesy disco group. Very annoying. But early tunes like "Too Young To Die" and "Return Of The Space Cowboy" still stand up as just great tracks. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

White people.... In my opinion,Jamiroquai is funkier than many of the so-called "R&B artists" who are at the top of the charts right now. They have a better understanding of funk and soul music than most of the shit-hop/R&B idiots who domiante the American music scene.

Oh, it has nothing to do with color I have nothing against Jamiroquai But Jamiroquai is not a great Funk group, it's not even a Funk group, this is Pop group... But saying this is a great funk group is plain IGNORANT ... It just makes me want to vomit... Jamiroquai is by any mean a Funk This is a Pop group... White people think this is Funk group Now you can tell me they are influenced by the Sound of the 70's Now you can tell me they put some elements of Disco, Funk But their music remains STRONGLY POP oriented... Even Wild Cherry or KC & The Sunshine Band unsed to be funkier than Jamiroquai Those who think that Jamiroquai is a Funk group have to learn a lot about Funk music... It's like saying Police is a reggae group... Just insane and trully ignorant

Last time I saw, you were trying to convince me that Vanity Shit was more relevant than Whitney Houston... I decided by myself to save you from the embarassement after all the insane statements you made by letting that other thread die... I have nothing interesting to learn from someone who believes that Vanity Shit is more relevant than Whitney Houston, who claims "Fuck Singing", and shamelessly would tolerate talentless lip synchers such as Cassie, T PAin or Omarion if Prince produces their album... What a joke... But seems like you haven't had enough ? Now you thinks Jamiroquai is a great Funk group ??? Pff... You know absolutly nothing about black music... vainandy said: Besides Prince, Jamiroquai is definately the only ones still making funk. Great stuff. That post gave me the biggest laugh of the day... If you think Jamiroquai is in the same category as JB's, EWF, Ohio Players, Cameo, Zapp, Gap Band, etc. I have nothing to say... Ridiculous

As I said earlier,Jamiroquai is like a modern-day Chic,Heatwave,Kleeer,Skyy, etc. They're keeping that disco/funk sound alive and I thank them for that. It's certainly more refreshing and funkier than the shit hop crap that dominates American radio these days.
