Alasseon said: Honestly though, while I'm all for personal responsibility, the media has a big role in how these girls are perceived. Non-stop publicity for even the simplest of things? How many of us can stand that kind of scrutiny at 15? At 16? At 21?
Enough is enough of these tabloid stalkers that take pictures of them every goddamn minute. Yeah, they may not be the most sophisticated people in the world, but the media builds them up and then tears them down, just to sell magazines and ad space. And let's be careful when we use words like "whore" and "slut" when we're talking about a 16 year old girl. Far as I know, she wasn't selling it, and those of you who were *not* having teenage sex, please raise your hands. Thanks for posting that. Sounds fair enough to me. Regardless to it being an underage pregnancy I felt kinda creeped out to hear people calling a 16 year old a whore and a slut. Yes, she has clearly made a mistake, but it just doen't feel right to trash the girl. Money or not, at that age I imagine many young girls are scared to death once the reality of what they're about to take on settles in. I also imagine people would still be willing to call her evrything under the sun had it leaked that she had an abortion instead...in a case like this, this young girl is going to get ripped by the public no matter what her choice would have been. That feels unsettling to me for some reason

I was thinking the same thing! My food 4 thought is Maybe they should update legal ages now. Children are more capable of taking on Adult responsibilities (certainly doing so anyway) Maybe if those responsibilities become real by legal age law, younger people will think before they take on the world. 16 to become legal and 18 to legally drink. Save parents headaches from rebellious children who now have to be responsible for their own actions. [Edited 12/19/07 13:34pm] We all want a big hit again because

Maybe I'm playing devil's advocate here but... Does the fact that she had sex and got pregnant make her a bad role model? She had sex - lots of teenagers are. She got pregnant - presumably by mistake. She's not advocating that others do the same. So she's in a situation that will produce big lifelong changes for her. Is it anything more than that? I don't think you're wrong. I'd still watch her Zoey character on Nick with my girls and say "I like the choices these kids are making" (on this pretend tv show, lol). It's a decent show, even much more level-headed than Hannah Montana or iCarly or the skads of other crap kids' shows. Which makes it especially sad that they're gonna give Zoey the boot now! Heaven help those kids.

The Spears clan is turning into the new Jacksons, only minus the talent! Does Lynne have any more critters waiting in the wings somewhere? Oh please, I don't remember La Toya or Janet walking around 12 weeks preggers at 16. I'd rather have weirdness in the family instead of teen-aged pregenacy.

TonyVanDam said: Exactly. Lynne has been the mastermind behind the careers of both of her daughters since back in the days when the girls' father was struggling to provide for his family. And yes, it was Lynne that invented the Lolita-like image that Britney lived by for her debut album. The beginning of the end started when Lynne decided to Britney the #1 bread-winner of the family. How the hell do people think Britney's & Jamie Lynn's older brother was able to afford a college education without student loans?!? Admittedly I don't really follow Britney news, but I had no idea there was a brother. And this older brother was not "pimped out" into show business, but instead got a college education, huh? And he's never in the news...I'm presuming he doesn't run around flashing his junk, acting like an idiot, or impregnating girlfriends. Very interesting. On one hand I think that makes a very good case for going to school and getting an education. But on the other hand, I don't like what I'm seeing as a kind of "old fashioned" attitude in the whole situation. The girls' (Jamie & Brit) worth is based on superficial looks and not so much talent, while the guy is sent to college. Why couldn't they pimp out the brother and sent the girls to college? Seems kinda sexist to me.

I'm sick of people using that,'they have to live their lives under a spotlight' excuse for these people. I'm not their PR person; they aren't paying me to kiss their asses, whip up their little mistakes, and lie for them. Even if they were, I'd still tell them they were wack-a-doos and idiots...yep, I'd be fired the first day LOL. Sorry, but I call it as I see it and they are both being total fucking 'tards at the moment and need to be called out on it. Why did this idiot even say anything to a magazine about being pregnant? She could have gone to Louisiana until the baby was born and nobody would have been the wiser; but nooooo, she had to open that hole on her face and tell the world she's scared. She wasn't too scared about the consequences of what could happen when she was bumpin' pelvises with her boyfriend, now was she? I know they teach sex ed before you turn 16...shit, they probably offer the morning after pill in the nurse's station nowadays. There's no dictator forcing them to do what they do, so they can stop being publicity whores whenever they want to. They chose to get under that spotlight and remain in it; and, it devoured them because they couldn't handle it. Life's a bitch and then you die, so get over it, or fall under it. There are too many other child stars who aren't doing this stupid shit for me to blame the media for the scrutiny they are receiving. Sure, they need to leave these two idiots alone, but not for the Spears' to have peace of mind; no, for the rest of us who are tired of looking at two dumb twats who were lucky enough to get millions of dollars by doing nothing more than being over-paid puppets. I feel for all these poor kids, because as Britney has made it soo clear money doesn't make someone a good parent. Oh, and I wasn't having sex when I was 16...too afraid of being murdered by my parents if they found out. They would have beaten that baby out of me. Prince Rogers Nelson

Anyone feel like calling him a slut or whore? That good ol' double standard rears it's head yet again. It takes 2 to make a baby, even by accident. Lord, though. 16?
