i'm not a huge fan of tori, but i am an ENORMOUS fans of performers stopping the show to tell obnoxious audience members to shut up and knock it off. i'm glad she kicked those two little snots out of her show. people really need to either learn concert etiquette or else buy all my tickets for me and i won't complain a bit about how rotten you behave.

No, not at all. She's only done it a few times when someone gets excessively out of hand.

Good for her! I’m no fan, but she’s definitely won my admiration for doing this, and I wish more acts would follow her lead. I have basically sworn off all live gigs unless it’s a must-see because I am sick of having every show I attend ruined by loutish behavior. I will never understand why anyone would go out of their way to buy a ticket to a show if all he wants to do is get drunk or make small talk with his friends. Every single gig I’ve attended in the past ten years or so (barring one) has been marred by having to listen to some asshole talk about his son’s graduation or by some drunk buffoon constantly spilling beer on me, making out with his irritatingly good-looking girlfriend and getting up every five minutes for a beer/piss/walk-about.

The only exception was the Zappa plays Zappa show I saw this past summer. The audience was actually there for the music, and it made for one of the most pleasant and amiable atmospheres I’ve ever enjoyed at a rock show.

Agreed. People need to respect the artform and don't take away from others performance experience.

i hope she does it at EVERY show where audience members are behaving like asses while she's trying to play. i hope she gets a reputation for it so that people will behave or else keep their asses home. and i hope it becomes a trend.

She's right. I would've done the same thing. Nina Simone used to be like that too. lol This wasn't the first time Tori went off on someone though. Who knows about the "Lady in white" incident? I forgot what show it was, but some woman wouldn't sit down and kept distracting Tori. I know it used to be at the dent.com, and I have it somewhere on a burned cd. She's yelled at the tech crew before too for fucking her lights up. lol

Charles Mingus was known for this, but he'd threaten the obnoxious audience member with bodily harm. lol

I heard from various people that who went to a show he played locally that he told the audience that he didn't even want to hear them stirring their drinks. And some have told me at this same show that he told and audience member 'don't make me drag yo' ass up on this stage and whup your ass.' How i wish i were there to see that, well not that, but MINGUS! bawl

Some comments online suggest the security guard would not allow the crowd to approach the stage and dance, as Tori likes them to do. She kicks him out, explaining, "this is not f***ing school!" lol

i've seen sandra bernhard tell audience members to shut up at her shows, and i've also seen her very politely (!!!) ask front row audience members to take their smoking outside while she's performing. The last time I saw Regina Specktor perform, she asked people to talk less and listen more. And then there's Courtney Love, who will yell at the audience whether they've done something wrong or not. lol

ok, an underwear model (and i'm being generous in that assumption) who was pictured in a cover pictorial called 'breast friends' and who posted on a blog called 'whatever.poop' has exactly WHAT kind of credibility? lol
