I've never really explored Marvin Gaye any further than his greatest hits and his acclaimed What's Going On album. But I would like to get more into him. I already intend on getting Let's Get It On, but apart from his two most acclaimed albums (WGO and LGIO), what Marvin Gaye albums would you recommend?

I would recommend getting "Here, My Dear". It was recorded after his divorce from his wife. It's a very personal album. Most of the songs deal with the divorce and the custody battle over his son. You can hear the pain in Marvin's voice. It's a great album. One of my all time favorite albums ever.

You also can't go wrong with "I Want You". It's basically a follow-up to "Let's Get It On". It has some classics on there like "Come Live With Me Angel", and "After The Dance".

Here My Dear sounds like it would be an excellent album to own. I have not heard much about I Want You, but if it's best described as a follow up to Let's get It On than I will seriously consider it. Thanks for the recommendations.

If you own What's Goin' On and tend to get Let's Get it On soon, then I Want You should be next in line.

After those three, you should go with In Our Lifetime, Here My Dear and Trouble Man.

Then I'd get a collection of his early Motown hits before 1971 and either a collection of his post-Motown work or Sexual Healing LP.

Without a doubt, I Want You should be next. Sexiest Record Ever.

Maybe a little OT, but I would like to ask a thing to all the Marvin experts.

I've read somewhere that the CD "Live At The London Palladium" was remastered and expanded in one of the last CD edition.
Now I have a CD edition "Motown ZD 722213" timing at 72:26, that I believe to be the "normal" version.
Can someone please specify which are the differences on the tracklist (lenghts of tracks, bonus tracks or anything)?!?!?
Just to clear it out, and to understand if I'm really missing anything necessary.

Maybe it's the space that they include on CD re-releases of albums. Some albums when they're re-released cut some space off a song after it's done and some songs actually go longer then go to another song as it was done. This re-issue could be the latter.

No, but I just had a look through my "to-listen-to" pile; it's music I've bought and haven't had a chance to listen to. It's there and has been for at least six months! I'm backlogged longer than that on other titles! More music than time.
