Just listened to this tune about 10 times in a row.
Not only because it's such a good song, but because I especially enjoy the way El sings at around the 4:38 mark...

I did a cursory search to try and find out who played the solo and noticed some of the fine musicians credited on that album.

OMG I love this song. I had the album when I was a kid and I really enjoyed it. DeBarge was one of my favorite groups back in the day and I would play this song over and over. I should play this later on today.

El had written this years earlier especially for Marvin Gaye to sing. Unfortunately, we all know what happened and Marvin never got to do it.I think Mavin would have done a great job on it. I think that El sounds like Marvin on certain parts.
