this is Rihannas 3rd album, but with each sales are dropping off a bit

I know you're supposed to be some sort of insider, but please start getting your sales facts straight:

Music of the Sun: 600,000 US, 1.6 million WW
A Girl Like Me: sitting at about the same as GGGB in the US, 2.6 million WW
GGGB: 870,000 US, 3.2 million WW (and will probably hit at least 4-4.5 million by the time they are done with singles)

Ok look at the first album one BIG single, second album two BIG singles, third album four singles and more of a push less of a reward, its costing more and getting less. And also Music of the sun is standing at 843,000 for the record

Yeah, that's clearly why they're dropping her like they did Van Hunt. Because she's losing them sooooo much money. lol

They are dropping artists like a Van Hunt because its easier to market a "puppet" than an artist. Sorry to call her a "puppet" but she is, she has no control on anything she does, and if her project loses money or someone like her, than the ones that usually suffer are the others at the label.

For an artist with 4 singles all HUGE and for all the push this girl gets, she has only moved 800,000, though not a bad number, its crap when you think of what goes into getting her played and seen.

That's in the USA alone, and not shipped, that's SCANNED/SOLD , what number would be acceptable to you? lol

Her singles probably have sold more combined than the album.

As they said back on the Brady Bunch to "Johnny Bravo" we want you because you fit the suit and thats all Rihanna is, someone that fits the mold, till they find someone new, next year most likely that fits that mold better. Lets not give iconic status to someone most of the world hasnt even heard of.

I think the song sucks. And maybe that's why I'll never run a label, but f&ck it, without taste and musical balls what do you have.

The song is repetitive and annoying.

I agree with the amount of airplay and hype these z100 tunes are getting they should be selling NSYNC numbers.

Mary J, not my fav live performer, but at least she has some taste!
Music is the best...

It just seems that this crappy little song was passed around by everyone like a party joint and then fell into the Robots lap, too bad it didnt help her album sell.

Last I heard, she's still not platinum. "Breakin Dishes" is supposed to be her 5th single. The label is not making any money off her, she is a songwriters dream tho. With the success and all the covers, the writers have made a fortune!

Good point. I guess when someone releases four songs from an album, you expect the album to do 3 million in the US but the way things are, we're going back into the 1960s when singles did better than albums and if an album did 800K, that's a monster success.

I would buy that but look at Fergie? Now she never even had a record till this one, and she is nearing 2.5 million in the USA alone, and she also has had alot of singles, Rihanna is on her 3rd record and still hasnt hit a million despite the singles and the media attention. And seriously there isnt too much distinction between the 2 ladies musically.

i don't know to be honest,
both are shit singers, and prostitutes.

they both fuck for tracks, Rihanna in particular, Her pussy is the size of Pluto, and her anus rim is like a sagging pair of bollocks.

800,000 in the usa, after all that fucking airplay and exposure??! fucking hell!!

i don't know whats more fucking funny, the fact that Rihanna is a shit seller,
or that Timbaland is a fucking shit seller.

Timbaland hasn't even gone Platinum yet in the usa!! lol

pathetic piece of shit!

Umbrella is a fantastic pop song. Unique, fun and finally not about sex. Easy to sing along to as well.

This forum is so accustomed to being anti-todays music that it can't even accept a good song when it hears it.

"NO IT MUST BE SHIT HOP IT MUST BE!!!!!"

Take it for what it is guys, a song that just scored 6 Grammy nominations.

And all the people complaining about Rihanna's album not selling well? When's the last time any teen actually paid for music? You think half the people that own Rihanna's album paid for it? I didn't.

Well if its got grammy nominations it must be good than. As for being anti-todays music, 90% of rihannas music is taken from 20 years ago, its a shitty song, forgettable it makes Fergies London Bridge look like Mozart.

I bypass most of today's pop/r&b offerings, but "Umbrella" had me hooked from the first time I heard it. Within days, I was trying to download it as a ringtone. I'm an oldhead with even older tastes. But that's some mighty good songwriting, to make me alter my music consumption habits like that. hmm

I even like Mandy Moore's version of it. It's a great song.

Ya well, generally songs that are nominated are. Even if they're not amazing, they still have "something". The only Grammy nominations I object to are Soulja Boy and Akon. And its "then" btw, not "than".

Umbrella was not taken from 20 years ago and we're talking about Umbrella. Stay on topic.

It's an insult to a well written, sweet song to say that filthy London Bridge shit [now THERES some shit hop!] is better. Seriously, I suggest you get your hearing checked. London Bridge was hot for a minute, now everyone loves Glamorous. Rihanna will probably never top the success of Umbrella because it's that DAMN good. finger lol

I also suggest you check out the acoustic version of Umbrella Rihanna recently recorded.

I love that song, I think it's a great one for Rihanna. Can't imagine Mary's voice on it, & the structure of the song is pretty elementary. She probably thought it was beneath her, I kind of agree for some reason confused Just doesn't seem right for her voice...

FaTimberman is a a flabby excuse for 200 pounds of monkey feces in a 100-Pound bag on wax. His first eight years were great, but then again, I found out that he had/has no moral. So, now I don't know what to believe. But, I know what I see. And, I see a fat excuse for lazy, good for nothing, can't pick up an instrument without sampling other people's shit, sometimes (No, most of the time.) even stealing it piece-of-monkey crap! His music is starting to get old and repetitive. Is it hard to surprise now, FaTimberman?!? Everything ain't supposed to sound like it came straight from off of your computer, dud! Fix yourself. I hope he gets into financial trouble so that he will be forced to actually make his own piece of music; only to later have that same song that was actually hit material be taken from him so that he can see how it feels. It did. What kind of shit is that? The Grammys officially have no meaning, anyway. Their credibility is as staunchly shat on as the MTV Video Music Awards is as far as credibility is concerned. It all hasn't been the same since 2003.
