indeed, it was a really gay song and made Boy George sound straight. Michael and his gay & effeminate tendencies were clearly evident on this song. I heard Will I Am is gay too. Makes sense to have a remix with another gay dude on it! Too funny if will.i.am is part of the family. Just thinking about it make me crack up. And Michael, that dudes an asexual. We don't need him in our "Rainbow Coalition". I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I guess it's safe to say that Michael Jackson has run out of ideas. Or it's cheaper to re-release it over and over again. One good thing: Next year, Sony gives the master tapes to Michael in 2008, so this will be Sony's last re-release.....hopefully There's so much he could do: Release a Live concert boxset from the 1978-1992 tours Finally remaster and re-release The Jacksons albums Release a boxset of previously unreleased material ACTUALLY DO A DAMN TOUR..... Someone needs to hire me as their advisor I'd make Papa Joe proud "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Maybe in this board. Not too many people would listen to anything that fucks up their love of "Thriller".

If this is what Michael is gonna do with the rest of his career (re-hashing old songs and living in the past),he may as well retire. It's obvious that he has nothing new to offer,as an artist.
Call it a day,dude | |

I actually really dig this. I'm interested to hear the remixes. I don't know what people have against remixes. It's not like they ruin the original. The originals are still there. It's not like Michael and the guys who helped remix the tracks destroyed the master tapes and made a mass recall on all CDs and any other media that contains the songs that were remixed. The originals still exist. Calm down.
And enough with bitching about re-releasing Thriller again. If you made an album that sold over 50 million copies worldwide and won 7 grammies wouldn't you be proud of it? Michael likes Thriller. And no matter how good the new material he is working on now is, he knows Thriller was his best and probably will always be his best work. So I think both Michael and Sony would agree that at this time it's probably going to bring in more profit if they re-release Thriller rather than release the new album now. Plus, if Michael really does intend on releasing a new album. How is he going to get anyone who isn't already a fan to buy it. Anyone too young to remember the 80s wont give two hoots about someone they only know as a plastic-surgery-addicted, accused-child-molester. So if he released Thriller now with remixes by artist they know and love, maybe they'll realise what a great artist he is(was) and maybe buy his new album. It just makes sense to me.

I'll be proud of it but I wouldn't redo it just so younger kids who think of me as a notorious celebrity would dig it. But if this is what he wanna do and if he thinks this is the way before he does "the new album", so be it. He just could've done so much more than just that for me.

No one ever bitches about Disney re-releasing their "classic" movies every 10 years or whatever it is. IMO it's just the smart thing to do. Re-release it for a new audience. Also, what most people are failing to understand is that it's not a release for hardcore fans. It's designed to widen Michael's audience. They aren't going to be attracted to an album of old songs with more old songs that didn't even make the original release of this old album. But they might be attracted to an album of old songs with new remixes done by new artists and producers. And look at who the artists/producers are who have contributed to the remixes on Thriller 25. Kanye West, Akon, will.i.am, the same producers who have been reported to be working on Michael's new album. The way I see it Thriller 25 is a preview of what's to come. If will.i.am's remix of The Girl Is Mine is as good as I'm hearing it is, then I think when people hear it they will be on the edge of their seats to hear what brand new music these two can come up with. IMO what Michael is doing with Thriller 25 is really smart and one of the best moves he's made in years. [Edited 12/17/07 7:14am]

I can see why they would wanna re-release "Thriller" like that but give something all ages would like rather than JUST be catered to younger crowds. The younger folks can enjoy the remixes but let the older ones have the demos, the unreleased songs and all of that good stuff, feel me?

They witnessed Thriller in all it's glory. If it's unreleased songs your after I guarantee you that The Ultimate Collection is the best you are going to get. Everything that's not on that album is either being held off for a future project, is lost or destroyed from storage, or never got past the demo recording stages or in some cases even the writing stages.

IMO, he don't have to cater to the mainstream, he could've had Easy Mo Bee, Raphael Saadiq, the 9th Wonder and Salaam Remi on "Thriller", maybe Will can get into the picture to bring a little "mainstream" and then the artists could be of the independent kind.
I don't know, I'm looking at it from an ARTISTIC value. If Mike and Sony are thinking COMMERCIAL, this is a good strategy so I'm not jocking them about that. It's just messed up that this is what has to be done for people who have no idea that Michael Jackson was the Michael Jackson that their parents talked about.

If Michael is in the middle of making a masterpiece of an album that is his most artistically credible and inspired ever, then it's going to be shame if only his hardcore fans hear it. To get this masterpiece to the masses he has to think commercially. Don't listen to "artist" who say they don't want to go "commercial". They just say it because the music they make is not good enough to be commercially successful. Believe me. If they had something worth commercializing they'd do it. Everyone likes to make money. And if you've ever made something truly great then you know how much you want everyone to know about it.

There have been exceptions to the rules but some artists who do say that do have albums that were looked as "nothings" initially, then one day, someone plays it and reviews that he heard a masterpiece so it can be deemed in different ways.

Dude, who cares whether or not this project is going to be an artistic masterpiece? It is obvious that MJ wants to do some damage control with casual fans or indifferent people who think that he is a child molester. This project is clearly not for the fans who already have Thriller or remember when he truly was the biggest entertainer in the world. I was also thinking that he probably is doing this for his children as well. Remind them that their father did something other than go to court in his pajamas. That he is a music legend, etc.
