Fantasia cant take Broadway No Mo The Broadway attendance police are on patrol, and this time we're giving out detention to - Fanta sia. Since summer, the occasional star of "The Color Purple" has missed nearly 50 performances, production sources say. Following a three-week vacation caused by the strike, she dropped last Friday's performance, causing pandemonium in the lobby of the Broadway Theatre.
An 8-year-old girl sobbed uncontrollably when she heard Fantasia was not going to be in the show. "It was very sad," my lobby spy reports. "Her mother was trying to explain to her that Fantasia was sick, but the girl didn't understand and just kept crying." -Juicy C Straight Jacket Funk Affair

What a dumb girl. You get an unbelievable shot to perform on broadway and wouldn't dedicate your life to make sure you're in the performance? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I heard it a while back and the song is craptastic. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I cringed when I heard Aretha singing let me put you up on game. Something about that was just so wrong. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I heard it a while back and the song is craptastic. Aretha is one of those classic artists who should stay FAR AWAY from today's artists and producers. She should just make Old School-styled records, produced by real songwriters and producers.

How did she get a part in this play anyways

Yeah that song SUCKS! And Aretha's 65-year-old ass need to be ashamed of herself still trying to be "hip". She's been saying "putting you up on game" since 1998's "A Rose is Still a Rose". It didn't work then and it don't work now! And yeah Fantasia is a big dummy. [Edited 12/14/07 8:43am]

She definitely needs to pull it together & fulfill the duties she's contracted for. As written on another website, she should have had it in her contract not to perform the matinees to cut down on the workload. It's a fantastic opportunity, & she can sing her head off, that's why she got the job

Shame on Fantasia for not being a professional. Whether it's the Broadway strike they just had here or not, her behavior is pathetic. Too many people come from all over the world to see Broadway plays and to do what she's done speaks high volumes. Thank God I wasn't trying to go Downtown to see The Color Purple. Fantasia is in need of a Humility lesson. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I saw her in TCP on Broadway. She sings well and her vocal performances were top notch, but I felt that her portrayal of Celie made the character seem more dimwitted and naïve than the first time I saw it. LaChanze's Celie was more self-assured and intelligent in contrast.

A perfect example of why dedicated stage actors get annoyed with the casting of untrained and/or unprofessional celebrities for "taking jobs" from them.

How many folks actually saw FANTASIA perform in The color purple??? Well, i can say that I did.. and it was an amazing performance she gave. She actually does 2 shows a day .. 4-5 times a week.. and she has been doing it for about 9 months.
Its not an easy thang to get up and pour ur heart n soul in2 a performance plus make it new/fresh each time. Im sure its wearing her out ..and maybe she needs a well deserved break!

I keep hearing that Fantasia is so good but I often wondered how she compared to a veteran actress like LaChanze. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off
