Michael Jackson to take up a residency at London's o2...

It's all over Yahoo and Google news... although I think the original source is Mr. Friedman... so who knows?

Would be great if true though.

well if he really is needing money,
he might as well go one further than prince and do "365 days in london"

he can live in the o2 as well, move his furniture there and have a good old time, save the money and then retire.

great idea.

probably raymone bain will shove a carrot up her clit if that happens.

JACKSON PLANNING LONDON RESIDENCY?

Superstar MICHAEL JACKSON will follow in the footsteps of PRINCE and play a London residency next year (08), according to reports.
The Thriller hitmaker is rumoured to be in negotiations with promoters AEG Live to organise a series of concerts to help settle outstanding debts of $325 million (£162.5 million).
And Jackson is reportedly looking to emulate the Purple Rain singer's success when he played 21 dates at London's O2 Arena over the summer (07).
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Star, "The general consensus is that Jacko has the fan base to attract enough gig-goers from all over the world to make this a huge success.
"Booking the O2 up for more than a couple of nights might seem like a big gamble on his and his promoters' part, but just think of the history. People will flock to witness Jacko cover his back catalogue." And the promoters have further fuelled speculation about the London dates.
AEG Europe's David Campbell says, "We have two big residencies booked for the fourth quarter of 2008."

How long before Jermaine slides into a press conference saying this is J5 tour?

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

This all sounds like a rumor, like the countless rumors about Michael Jackson floating around on the Internet.

He is. I don't know what the fuck he's doing there though. I heard he and his kids were staying with a friend. Guess he don't give a damn about Neverland since he ain't "been back there" like some fans would've wanted him to.

This is why Michael needs to stop with the anonymity only because people are reporting either false stories or inaccuracies about what he plans to do or not do. Create a website, be more open to the fans and stop the madness least on his side of the pond. They can say what they want but Michael needs to set the record more straight than just allowing poor Raymone to go "not true". I feel sorry for her actually right now because she had to deny Mike was performing with his brothers at the ATL NY bash but Jermaine Dupri DIDN'T say anything about a performance. That was just fans wondering if there WAS a scheduled performance.

Yes, I agree.

But I think there is such a dissonance between fans who interact with each other on the Internet and the casual fans who do not belong to any Internet forums. The former seem to be following MJ's every move while the latter could not give a shit. biggrin

So it isn't a PERFORMANCE..it is just an APPEARANCE if anything?

Michael Jackson is going to have to sell many times more tickets than Prince did, and at a far, far higher price, if he's trying to raise $325 million.

I think Prince generated $21 million in ticket sales or something in that neighborhood.
