Operation failed miserably!

He was outed, upstaged and OWNED by none other that Madonna who made a complete helpless bullied fool out of his ass in his OWN show.

Serves him right!

Tryna be condescending is a no-win situation, eventually(like that clip proved) it will backfire on your ass when you interview somebody HALF your age who outwits your wack ass. Its not a good look.

I'm glad she put him in his place, it might sting his ass to read more books about other cultures or at least watch his mouth next time, which is the least he could do.

Honestly shrug If THAT is considered skillful and deep,,,,we're in deep trouble, boy disbelief

Agreed.
I don't really watch that much TV,
but, IMO, his show is the only one worth watching among the late talk shows.

No!

None of these so-called TV hosts owned their territory, NONE. The only person who demanded the guests as well as the audience's attention and respect was late Johnny Carson, the rest are just a bunch of self-important puppets.

Hmm then why did Madonna come back and kiss his ass? True Carson is the master for ever because no one can do it the way he could, Letterman is in a different class by himself like Carson was, two totally different people. Everyone loved Carson, even people who thought he had gotten "old" still knew he was the best. And also getting on the carson show was the Holy grail, now it really doesnt matter what show you get on, though leno or letterman may have more weight than the later shows, its not the Holy Grail of Carson, even comedians who got their first start on this show which would be all of them from Eddie Murphy to Bill Maher to Jerry Seinfeld and Billy Crystal, they all said you know you were good when Johnny called you over to the couch to talk to you. Nowadays between long commercial breaks from networks the hour long shows run 41 minutes on average, 19 minutes of commercial time, so if you factor in 15 minutes of monologues and skits there is about 25 minutes to interview, and most shows book 3 guests, so who the hell can do anything with that? Carson used to have that show for 90 minutes.

I remember that right after Johnny died,
it seemed like that everyone who covered the story agreed that Dave was his true natural successor.

It seemed like the other way around to me, like he wanted to reconcile with her for their previous encounter. I'm sure if Madge wanted to flip the tables on him, make no mistake, he would've been under the table to this day.

Overall, I personally don't see the fascination with this guy. Never did and never will.

Carson is in a category ALL by himself, on the other hand.

I think Arsenio, handled this interview very well. He asked the questions that needed to be asked, and when Vanillia tried to get out of them, he continued to probe. I saw nothing in his Arsenio's body language that said, "I'm a bitch". During his time on the air, Aresnio, did what he had to do. If you wanna talk about interviews that got him in trouble, let's talk about the one that he did with Louis Farakahn. This is the one that really did him in and led to his show being pulled off the air, IMO.

what happened on that show?

This just goes to show that you were probably a casual viewer of the show.
You don't even know what happened when he had farakahn on the show.
Arsenio wasn't the best talk show host to grace television but he definitely
brought something fresh and innovative to the talk show circuit. You got to
see artists perform on his show that wouldn't have gotten the opportunity back then on a letterman or carson show. He even had former president to be bill
clinton play sax on his show. While most talk show hosts were geared to the 40 and over crowd, arsenio pulled in a lot of young viewers whom i was a part of back then that wouldn't take time to watch an 60+ year old carson show.

I agree on that point that he did bring artists to tv that werent on the other shows, mainly because their werent as many shows back then, i mean in all fairness it was Carson and Letterman and even letterman at that time was not a big deal he was more of a "cult" following, nowadays you can go on Letterman,Leno, Ferguson,O brien,Daly, Jon Stewart etc.. With that said bringing in youth or trying to cater to just youth nowadays has backfired BIG TIME which is why all these shows dont do well now, and things like MTV,VH1 and BET and their shows are no where near the ratings that they once had.

He sure opened doors for alot of artists.

Its there where I 1st saw Chris Tucker the 1st time, I honestly couldn't see him in another public media outlet.

How dare Arsenio Hall act like Vanilla Ice was a phoney/fake/rip off to the black man.

LOOK AT HIM! LOOK In the Mirror, when Arsenio wasn't sucking Eddie Murphy's dick he was having sex with white women. He is KNOWN for ripping off other black comics who werent out of the clubs yet. He would take their "signature material" and act like it was his own.

Plus his corny ass was out of style with his LA Fake Ass.. his trends and hair styles were 3 years out of style, when he finally got them.

Arsenio Hall is the Poster Boy for Uncle Tom - Downlow - Sell Outs.
