I think she's got a bit of damage control to do after 20 Y.O., which I only kept one track to, and I don't listen to it much at that. Maybe she's had enough with the hood-rat set, eh?

It ok,It may grow on me majorly like 'lose myself' by D.C.. Better than her last two lead singles...The second track should be a slow Jam maybe like Ciara's Promise hopefully....I guess it wont be the follow up to Velvet Rope...This is probably the least Melodic track on the album, LA Ried always make sures his projects have 'songs' not just tracks like this one..Its her "Its like that"...Have feeling it will be along of Fergies solo work..lots of ringtone ready songs..

They will release another first single...Nicole S had a song like this as her first single with T.I that went nowhere, then again when it comes to POP I'm always a bit off these days...That period line was wrong, shes going for that 'fetish' market with this song lol...She's a superstar unlike Nicole S, so an OK song will be enough to get her hyped..

Thanks. I didn't realize this thread had been going on for so long. Lose the internet for one day!

Found it (there are like nine hundred copies on a certain site that shows videos in case anyone is looking). I wouldn't doubt one or more of the Sirius stations are playing it but the only new music stations I listen to play rock and that is by old artists like Neil Young...no hope in hearing it there!

Got to admit I like it more than "So Excited" but not nearly as much as "All Nite" (which I always assumed 'So Excited" tried to be in both. slightly with sound but mostly with video).

This says it all so well.

From Idolator.com:

So Janet Jackson's new single "Feedback" debuted on the radio today, and given that I spent a good chunk of last night listening to the excellent--and chock-full-of-Janet--Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis four-disc box set, I was pretty psyched to hear it. But alas, this Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins maybe Darkchild, maybe Danjahandz-produced track is four minutes of robo-"sexiness" that once again muffles Janet's voice until she sounds just like any other processed ab-showing diva out there; it sounds like it was left off of Blackout, then subsequently rejected by Cassie. And perhaps with good reason, as any pretense of eroticism was bled dry by a lyric at the very end of the song's breakdown:

"My swagger's serious / I'm heavy like a first-day period."

No, really. I rewound the song three times to make sure. I mean... I don't know about you, female readers, but "heavy like a first-day period" doesn't really scream "sexy" to me. Or anything related to "swaggering," for God's sake. To me it means "hiding out while wearing sweatpants with lots of TiVoed Law & Order at the ready." Or "do I really have to get out of bed for the sole purpose of sitting in front of my computer for ten hours?" Or "pass the Advil." Or "please don't touch me because I might burst into tears at any moment." Although... you know, given the rough couple of years that she's had--the Super Bowl, the Dupri-ing, and the stinkeriffic 20 Y.O.--that last scenario may be the case. This song may be a cry for help!

Anyway, to help remind Janet that she has the potential to be awesome, and that she can be sexy without saying the word "sexy" 200 times in the space of four minutes, I present the below video. Also, Jimmy and Terry, if you are reading this, can't you help out your former protege in her time of need? She's obviously in a very bad way. Perhaps you can even get her together with Mya, and the two of them can pow-wow over unfortunate lady-related lyrical metaphors.

video = love will never do without you

Wendy Williams trashed the shit outta "Feedback" yesterday. She basically said that this is not the kind of music a woman at her age should be making. She and her sidekick Charlemane were saying it was horrible and that she's finished.

I don't agree with that but it was funny to hear. lol

Janets new album is...
Discipline.

JANET JACKSON TO RELEASE "FEEDBACK" – DEBUT SINGLE AT ISLAND DEF JAM MUSIC GROUP, IMPACTS JANUARY 7th
LEAD TRACK FROM DISCIPLINE – IDJ DEBUT ALBUM, SET FOR FEBRUARY 26th RELEASE
"Feedback" produced by Rodney Jerkins – other producers on new album include Jermaine Dupri, Ne-Yo, Stargate, Tricky Stewart, and The-Dream
Janet Jackson currently starring in Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? , #1 box office smash

(December 13, 2007 – New York, NY) /PRNewswire/ — International megastar Janet Jackson, who has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and is the newest signing to the Island Def Jam Music Group, has completed her first new single for the label with hitmaking producer Rodney Jerkins. "Feedback" will impact across-the-board at all radio formats on January 7th.

DISCIPLINE, Janet Jackson’s new album — and the 10th studio album of her career — is scheduled to arrive in stores on February 26th. In addition to Rodney Jerkins, the new album brings together an A-list of guest producers, including Jermaine Dupri, Ne-Yo, Stargate, Tricky Stewart, and The-Dream. DISCIPLINE was executive produced by Antonio "L.A." Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.

In a class all by herself, 5-time Grammy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated Janet Jackson is currently starring in Why Did I Get Married?, the smash hit movie by Tyler Perry, which opened #1 at the box office. This is the third motion picture of Janet’s career, and her third to open at #1, following the success of Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (2000), and her leading title role in John Singleton's Poetic Justice (1993).

Good! I was surprised Wendy hated it so much but I can't see it getting play there anyway. At this point (I doubt) Janet’s not going to reinvent the wheel but this is certainly groove-worthy.

I gave it the Bose test, the workout test, the dance test. Now I just have to give it the car test but there’s really no need. Now I just want the video and the album to be hot.

If this album has a theme that is something other than S&M, it could be good. Not loving the producer choice.
BTW, to the people that kept yelling at me (through posts) that Jermaine wasn't a producer...there it is! Sadly, he'll probably be the main producer and not this is looking like a "20 YO" meets the weaker shit on DJ type project!
I had a little hope with Stargate but turns out they make weak and weepy R&B tracks! DJs strongest quality were the dance pop tracks, so lets keep trying to make a modern R&B album rather than doing something cool and different that fans want.

lol

I am very happy with the producers that wound up on the album (they aren't giving us all of them, I'm sure).

I'm not going to start judging the product until I hear the tracks because each of those producers is capable of turning out GREAT tracks and has the potential to do so with Janet, as well.

The first single is fire, and I'm glad.

This is the first album title since The Velvet Rope that actually hints at a theme. 20 Y.O. is one of the worst album titles ever, but I love the new album title.

Um, Vinny, hate to break it to you since I know you LOVE JD so much, but he isn't the main producer. He didn't even get the lead single. Jeez.

He's listed as a producer and I think you, or someone, said he would not be involved. YOU PROMISED!
I'm going to cry in a corner.

I said he would not executive produce! You are catastrophizing, and it's hilarious. lol

Discipline I love the title.

If The Dream is a producer I wonder if she’ll have a song where she repeats a word multiple times ad nauseum?

I wanna make you come come come

I’m gonna be good because even tho we all have our wishes and hopesit really is about the end product. Some of those producers I don't know.

That Dream guy was just on Wendy’s show yesterday. Hmm...
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off
