Before 20 Y.O. or even Damita Jo, it seems like Janet usually took the backdoor approach. She never fully announce anything but when she did, it happened all on one day like BAM! Yeah, I think it's good marketing, too. I just remember the days of Virgin press releases that looked like they were written by 3-year-olds and were released 3 months too late.

People will like it, and so I'm happy for Janet. Does nothing for me. I anticipate a hot video, though. Janet has always been more of a dance pop star with a little r and b feel, than an r and b artist. More MTV than BET which is one of the reason 20YO did not work for her. Janet does not have the vocal ability like Mariah to carry Jermaine Dupree's hip hop/randb tracks. This song is her element, it fits her singing style and it works for her. I am also glad that this time out, unlike Damita Jo and 20YO, her first single is dance club and not a ballad or mid tempo. I hope the video is hot. For her cd, I hope its a dance cd, lay off the x rated lyrics, kill the interludes(they were cute on Velvet Rope, now they are annoying), and save the "baby making music" for the end like she used to. I can see the queens carrying on at the club to this song. It's a definate club banger. I completely agree. Nobody wants to hear no slow cut from Janet..."Call On Me" & "I Want You" are not the way to come back. Like you said, this is her element...this is her appeal. love is a fate resigned memories mar my mind love it is a fate resigned Over futile odds and laughed at by the Gods and now the final frame Love is a losing game

She definitely needed something uptempo. Her first singles have usually been uptempo or midtempo (That's The Way Love Goes was huge but Got Til It's Gone was an adventurous choice that didn't pay off commercially, though the video is classic). I can see a ballad (a GOOD one) being the fourth or fifth single, if anything. But Janet doesn't release many ballads in general; they usually make great album tracks.

That was the reason they gave - too pricey. But I know the real reason is that they didn't feel like chaperoning me. Years later, my mom and I were in a scary part of downtown Detroit buying 12th row scalper's tickets to the janet. tour. I had my mom trained by the end of my teenage years. Man, the stories I could tell you. You will soon, I hope! To have had the opportunity to see the Rhythm Nation or janet. tours....*sigh* I was a fan since 1995, though. From Idolator.com: So Janet Jackson's new single "Feedback" debuted on the radio today, and given that I spent a good chunk of last night listening to the excellent--and chock-full-of-Janet--Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis four-disc box set, I was pretty psyched to hear it. But alas, this Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins maybe Darkchild, maybe Danjahandz-produced track is four minutes of robo-"sexiness" that once again muffles Janet's voice until she sounds just like any other processed ab-showing diva out there; it sounds like it was left off of Blackout, then subsequently rejected by Cassie. And perhaps with good reason, as any pretense of eroticism was bled dry by a lyric at the very end of the song's breakdown: "My swagger's serious / I'm heavy like a first-day period." No, really. I rewound the song three times to make sure. I mean... I don't know about you, female readers, but "heavy like a first-day period" doesn't really scream "sexy" to me. Or anything related to "swaggering," for God's sake. To me it means "hiding out while wearing sweatpants with lots of TiVoed Law & Order at the ready." Or "do I really have to get out of bed for the sole purpose of sitting in front of my computer for ten hours?" Or "pass the Advil." Or "please don't touch me because I might burst into tears at any moment." Although... you know, given the rough couple of years that she's had--the Super Bowl, the Dupri-ing, and the stinkeriffic 20 Y.O.--that last scenario may be the case. This song may be a cry for help! Anyway, to help remind Janet that she has the potential to be awesome, and that she can be sexy without saying the word "sexy" 200 times in the space of four minutes, I present the below video. Also, Jimmy and Terry, if you are reading this, can't you help out your former protege in her time of need? She's obviously in a very bad way. Perhaps you can even get her together with Mya, and the two of them can pow-wow over unfortunate lady-related lyrical metaphors. video = love will never do without you Wendy Williams trashed the shit outta "Feedback" yesterday. She basically said that this is not the kind of music a woman at her age should be making. She and her sidekick Charlemane were saying it was horrible and that she's finished. I don't agree with that but it was funny to hear. I heard Wendy said something about the "Asian persuasion" line saying "Those damn Jacksons try to be everything but BLACK!!" love is a fate resigned memories mar my mind love it is a fate resigned Over futile odds and laughed at by the Gods and now the final frame Love is a losing game

I love the "Break it off, give it to me come on" parts. This track is so hot..it's SUPER HOT. LOVE IT.
So so so so so much better than "Call On Me" and "So Excited." However, while I like the album title, I'm fucking pissed that J.D. is still gonna be on this shit after all. Why? Seriously? Why? I thought L.A. Reid had this shit under control. What in the fuck? Can't you keep this midget off one Janet album? Who else is with me on this? MJ Fan 1992-Forever
