Oh My God....Keyshia Cole (The Season Finale)

I know that I defended this show last time we had a discussion about it, but last night season finale was very painful to watch... Who else saw this shit ???

nod

and I'll still defend it.

The Keyshia's biological mother needs to be in a recovery program away from the family for awhile. She can't grasp hold to how her behavior was and still is destructive to her children. Neffi needs therapy as well. Her situation with the husband effects her still. I truly think Keyshia is a young woman trying to make things better. I don't care how "ghetto" or unattractive or untalented people may think she is. She IS trying.

I still have no problem with what the show is and is about.

There are many families who are effective by drug abuse (regardless of race and class even) who have gone through this.

The only issue that I do have is that being the last show of the season.

Keyshia is a perfectly talented woman doing what she does best....making music. Why these stars want to put microscopes on the lives of themselves and their families is something I just do not get. Anything for a buck I suppose...

This show hasn't made it's way over here yet(they all get distributed by MTV Germany, and we're usually a season behind). I had really given upon reality shows once I saw the last of Flavor of Love 2, then the first episode of I Love New York shake. But after all the discussion I read here on the board, I would look out for this one. Keyshia's show, and my FAVE "Run's House" mushy. They're juuuust starting Season 2 of Run's show here sad

Why don't we just shit on music, as a whole if we're gonna go out saying outlandish things like that. Keyshia Cole? Perfectly talented? Doing what she does best is making music? Boy, are we in for a rude awakening to this generation. I feel like a prude, and for the first time, it doesn't feel so self-deprecating, at all. Quite enjoyable after seeing that little bitty in your post. No disrespect, by the way.....

lol

Maybe I was too generous. I'm not the biggest Keyshia fan, but it is what started earning her her "bread and butter" to begin with, so SOMEBODY is diggin it. I just don't see why everybody is obsessed with reality TV and why she feels the need to exploit her families issues for the world to see, when she can make a decent living recording her albums.....as sh*t as they may be!

No offense taken btw!

Agreed. Reality television is pointless, now. It was okay with just "The Real World" (Even though, that show and the other "SUPPOSED" reality television shows don't reflect anything but drama which is "NOT" all that life is cracked up to be. Life can be boring. So, screw the concept to sleep, already!). But the rest of the world has gotten carried away with it. It had only had gotten worse with celebrities actually buckling down under pressure and throwing pride/integrity out of the window to do them for the little bit of money that they "MUST" be receiving. Especially if they're going to be coming back for sequels and more torture.....

I blog all the time on myspace. I actually talk about my own issues and how I get through them, the drama of it all, etc. I've had people criticize me for doing so and I've had those who have said they read my blogs because they help them. I'd take all the criticize if my crap is actually helping.

I completely understand why, at times, somethings need to be exposed. I think that the manner this is done isn't about taking advantage of her family or making money off of them. This isn't about lumping all reality shows in one basket. I think this show and Mario's special just but a spotlight on drug abuse and its effects.

I really don't look at this show as some celebrity show but three women trying to deal with their lives and one just so happens to be a celebrity.

tell me about it. i think it was all too much for her to handle. the entire family, plus some long lost children, the adoptive family, the alcohol. i feel this woman needs help! she is still really guilty about giving her kids up for adoption and seeing the families that have taken care of her kids is really upsetting to her and seems to be like a slap in the face. i still commend keyshia for getting her family together and trying for all of them. it must be a lot for a young woman to cope with, on top of maintaing her singing career. i hope there will be another season to see how things progress.

Haven't seen it yet but it'll pop up on my Tivo any day now, looking forward to it.

Like Rhonda, I just appreciate that she came through some hard times, succeeded in her goal (despite how any of us feel about her music or singing ability) & is TRYING to repair her very wounded family...

The show and family are a HOT MESS! And I truly believe the mother and sister are using Keyshia and she needs 2 kick them 2 the curb and keep it movin'. Keyshia is young with a promising career ahead of her and doesn't need all this negative baggage in her life. All that rah, rah screamin' and hollerin' is ridiculous and an embarrassment. Just because folks are related to u, doesn't mean they automatically deserve to be in your life. I hope they don't have another season of that mess on BET.

Another hot ghetto mess. I did feel for her sister contemplating abortion. That has to be a painful decision.

The thing that people dont realize is that ALL Reality shows have outlines and many have Scripts and ALL have editors, so wheres the reality in that?

Doesnt matter if people know they are being filmed everyone is gonna act and play it up for the camera, doesnt matter who's reality show it is they all do it. A real "reality" show would be filmed without the person knowing the damn cameras are there, all these shows have agendas, coverage outlines and editors.

I can appreciate that as well, that's actually very commendable and makes me respect her more as a person. I just don't see why she can't do it in private. I have no beef with Keyshia though, overall she seems like a decent gal and I wish her a long and fruitful career in WHATEVER it is she ends up doing. She's obviously been through a lot.

So many people are selling their souls to tv these days, not that any of it is respectable. But she's young, grew up in a reality age, she hustled to get in & is gonna keep hustling until she feels secure I imagine. I can see why she made the decision to put it on tv & while it's not something I would choose to do myself I don't knock her for doing it. Seems like they're trying to make it part of the package these days - record deal, reality show, it's just a matter of time before she launches some hideous fashion line shrug

The best I could find was an odd clip here and there online...

...and boy was it HEAVY stuff eek. This is not your standard brain dead reality show based on trying to date or get laid...there are some real life issues at work here and I can see how one can find redeeming value in this program. Just as a kind of warm up to the reality clips I watched Keyshia's interview on Tyra; just hearing about how difficult her life adjustments were as a child really got to me. She has A LOT to come to terms with as a young woman...Im not familiar with her music, but that doesn't mean I don't want to wish her thest of luck..damn, she's got a lot of emotional "work" to do now and it doesn't look like it's going to be easy neutral
