Spellbound was on the barkays too hot to stop album of 1976. Paula Abdul just happened to have an album of the same name in 1990. Don't laugh at my funk

Great from start to finish Where do you find albums like this in Helsinki? Last Saturday I went through three record stores looking for a copy of Street Songs by Rick James and all I found was one dodgy compilation. I desperately need to expand my funk collection but it seems like I already own all 17 funky albums sold in this unfunky country. I know it's rude, she's a dude, but all I want is easy action baby! -Marc Bolan

Fennica Records, Popparienkeli, Stupido and Keltainen Jäänsärkijä. I'll just list the artist and the amount of albums I have (I'm in a bit of a hurry): Parliament: 3 Funkadelic: 2 Sly & the Family Stone: 4 Ohio Players: 3 James Brown: 2 Rick James:1 (bought it from cdon.com, arrived yesterday) Seems like the number is actually only 15 I know it's rude, she's a dude, but all I want is easy action baby! -Marc Bolan

[Edited 12/12/07 1:44am] Yes the original barkays lineup that toured with otis did have a white member which was not surprising since stax artists were totally integrated particularly booker t & the mg's. All members of the original barkays lineup except trumpeter ben cauley and current barkays member james alexander perished in the crash with otis redding. James Alexander missed the flight because he was returning a rental car and ben cauley was the only survivor. And yes funkenstein this barkays album is downright funkaaaay! well thats a bummer now isnt it! The originals members of the Bar-Kays were on the same plane as Otis Redding. Cauley survived the crash and, like phunkdaddy said, Alexander (the bassist) missed the flight. They formed a new version of the Bar-Kays and continued their recording career (they only released one album, 'Soul Finger', with the original line-up). It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
