The Bar-Kays for Induction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.

With the musical impact Otis Redding & 40 Plus Years of Music, The Bar-Kays deserve to be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. They perform all the music for the movie "Shaft" and Issac Hayes. The Bar-Kays are one of the FUNKIEST BANDS in the Universe.
Larry Dodson is such a soulful, charismatic singer & James Alexander has been thumping the bass since his childhood with Otis Redding. Please show your love and appreciation for FUNKY LEGENDS LARRY DODSON & JAMES ALEXANDER.

Do you really think those guys will ever get inducted? I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but the tight-nosed people at the rock and roll hall of fame wouldn't touch the Bar-Kays with a 10ft pole.

The O'Jays wouldn't have been inducted if the Dells hadn't acknowledged them during their induction speech (and the fact that "For The Love Of $" was used for the Apprentice).

Have they even inducted people like Isaac Hayes, Bootsy Collins, Maceo Parker, Arif Mardin, or even Rufus and Chaka Khan? I hope one day that the RRHOF will recognize the Bar-Kays, Cameo, ConFunkShun and others, but until then....

I agree, the Bar-Kays are not getting into the RRHOF. I ssac Hayes was inducted in 2002, Bootys as part of P-Funk in 97, I don't know about Maceo, I don't don't know if he was inducted with P-Funk or not.

Cameo might actually have a shot (probably not), they had some huge pop hits in the mid 80's, Con-Funk-Shun, hell nawl, they want some chart success and well know artist.

I remember reading somewhere that the Dells and O'Jays would be the last R&B vocal groups to be inducted into the Hall.

I remember reading a lot about Joe Tex not getting in last years on some site, and they were going off about Joe not getting in.

The O'Jays were arguably the most successful vocal act in the 1970s and the one act mostly associated with the Philly Soul/Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff sound. That and their continued success into the late 1980s and early 1990s ensured their place in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, IMO. They are known for more than just "For the Love of Money" -- "Backstabbers," "Love Train" and "I Love Music" also stand as some of the most significant soul songs of the 1970s.

As for The Bar-Kays, the group at best would be an incredible longshot. They had some consistent level of success, but at a mostly modest level. They never put together a string of success that makes them mentioned in the same breath as acts like Cameo, much less The O'Jays. The Bar-Kays have never had a No. 1 single, while in comparison The O'Jays topped the charts 10 times (and rank 16th all-time for having the most charted singles in terms of weeks on the Billboard R&B singles charts, according to Joel Whitburn's book "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Singles").

THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

That's an interesting tidbit. I didn't know that. I know they played on some BIG hits, but will forever be overlooked by the RRHOF.

If they come up with a Soul Hall of Fame (is there one), I can see them being inducted.

Until Chicago and Hall & Oates get in, the RnR Hall of Fame is still clueless.

I agree with that. Chicago is definitely deserving as well as Hall & Oates.

Nope. How about for being very talented musicians and planting the seeds
known as black rock which evolved into funk even if some of their songs were
based on the top ten.

And u are not into like Funk nor Soul because The Bar-Kays have always been a Funk/Soul Band. Heck, They performed on the Wattstax DVD back in 1972. I think that Prince was inspired by The Bar-Kays somewhat. The song "Billy Jack Bitch" has a BAR-KAYS feel to it.

It's no denying that someone like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens and others have played a MAJOR role in popular music. Even I can see that and I'm not a big country fan either.

If we didn'h have those artists along with Prince, MJ, Jackie Wilson, Robert Johnson, Run DMC and others, we would have NEVER gotten people like Kid Rock Eric Clapton or Maroon 5.

It's all about influences (that's what the RRHOF is supposedly acknowledging). The BarKays have never been influential on music. I have never heard a singer acknowledge them as an influence.

The Barkays will never be inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'm just going to be honest about it. The majority of their fans are black and they have very few white fans. I don't think I've ever seen a black artist in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that doesn't have a large white fanbase.

All three groups are way "too black" for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's taste. Cameo might possibly be inducted eventually because of "Word Up" but I doubt it. As for Con Funk Shun.....never.....like I said before.....way "too black".

No they wouldn't. Look at what soul has been reduced to for years, nothing but slow stuff. Look at the "Soul Train Awards" and who they induct. Nine times out of ten, it's always some solo singer that had very few uptempo hits, if any. The people making into the hall of fame would be the Shitney Houston type singers. For somebody hard like The Barkays, there would have to be a "Funk Hall of Fame".

If a Soul Hall of Fame had been started before 1985, The Barkays, Con Funk Shun, and many others would have had a shot. Hell, even some disco acts too. Since the late 1980s, these dead asses seem to have forgotten about anybody who can actually throwdown.

U mean way too soulful for the rock n roll hall of fame's taste.
Heck, they performed on the Wattstax DVD and that was a FUNK/SOUL music festival.
