Robert contacted The System before he recorded the song and they gave him their blessings. David Frank even played keyboards on Robert's version. If they didn't have a problem with it, why do you...a quarter of a century after the fact?

dirtyman2005

robert was a fucking hell of a singer,

sure, he did a few covers,

but overall, he was the shit!

to be honest, i like both versions.

The systems is obviously the best,it has the amazing electronic synths and beat.

robert's is more of a rockier version, still bloody good mind you.

Allow me to clarify my poorly constructed sentence - unaware of the previous discussion re: Palmer's cover version...not unaware of my "love" for him.

I didnt know that he had contacted them and remade it. I never said it was BAD...i just wanted to know why he kept remaking things that were made in the same 10 year span of music.

That's like Foo Fighters doing "Dirrty" by Xtina...WHY?

Ripher2shreds...yeah I never knew there was a post about that b4..lol...it sounded like it was funny

I thought you were gonna ask why he would remake Mercy Mercy Me - a song pointedly about pollution & the environment - as ameldey with a sexy love song.

When he sings "I want you, but I want you to want me too..." is he singing to the Planet?

I don't know if I heard the other one you're talking about.

Now with that, he did the medley because he loved Marvin and his music. I ain't got a problem with him doing covers, lol.

He thought that too. This is why he re-did his vocals, when it was placed on one of his greatest hits CD's. Although I like the System's version, RP's version, seemed to funk a little bit more. That's just me though.

I know plently about funk. While the System's version was funky...I thought that his was just as funky.
