A Broken Heart Can Mend???

Just heard this Alexander O'Neal track for the first time in ages last night on the radio....

....is it me, or did he pilfer this lock, stock and barrel from Prince's "17 Days"?????

Since "17 Days" is maybe one of my favorite tracks ever (just put it on my new MP3 player), I might give this one a listen.

Yes cuz that was made in 85. J&T officially ripped that line. I bet Prince just laughed

I've been saying that for years,,,but for an obvious reason he got a way with it; it STILL sounds fresh.

But if you wanna talk about influences, lets mention the rest: Innocent sounds abit like Get It Up from the Times, Whats Missing sounds like what Kashif would've done in 82/83 and If You Were Here Tonight sounds alot like Grover Washington Jr.'s paradise.

LOVE that album though, the best from 85 along with Rene & Angela's Street Called Desire music

I agree with u. Those 2 albums are among my tops from 1985.

Only that one little part sounds like 17 days.

" a a a a broken heart can mend."

That song doesn't even need that part really. On a whole, it sounds nothing like "17 days".
It's a hot song.
