Horrible movie and so unnecessary.
Black Cinema adaptation of the Broadway Hit The Wiz was very necessary for Black Cinama Movement and was innovative during its time. [Edited 12/7/07 13:14pm]

Cripes! I saw it years ago and she looked like she was supposed to MUCH younger and definately acted that way, too.

It was necessary at the time to make the movie. I don't care for the movie because it tends to D R A G! **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

It is a cult classic. Cult classics you either get or you don't. i liked this movie, but mainly for the songs. Luther Vandross co wrote "can you feel a brand new day" and can be heard singing on the track. Brings back good memories from childhood.

i think what upsets most folks is that this film is a true urban musical...it was not watered down to appeal to mainstream america and for that i thank Sidney Lumet. Space for sale...
