Björk "Declare Independence" Video

Not exactly what I expected, but then again, it never is with her.

Why do I feel like I'm watching a more colorful version of a mashup of every early Nine Inch Nails video?

lol

"Declare Independence. Dont Let them do this to You!"

I've always thought 'Declare Independence' was influenced by Tone on Tail's "Go".

What do you think?

it's time for craft corner with bjork! lol

this is better than the 'earth intruders' video by far, but it's still a little static for the energy of 'delcare independence', don'tcha think?

Well, it's certainly not what I envisioned a video for this song to be- I think I like what's been running through my head better. This is a bit too Blue Man group for me to really get behind it. neutral

It's still anything but typical so I still give her credit. Is all that string and apparrati supposed to be a machine that makes their own flag? hmmm

falloff I just got the image of Bjork in a knitting circle. Makes perfect sense to me!

I just expected something akin to her on top on a mountain with a battle staff in hand. She is a Warrior Woman!

Yup- and It should have been WAY more sinister. I kinda pictured her as some sorta Gollum (sp?) creature when she says: jusssssttiiiiiceeee. demon

Yeah. It even starts out silly with that 'string' bass that Mark Bell's playing.

I guess from watching the Making Of special that the end result would be more dynamic. It's a little too straight forward and dare I say, a little cheap looking. When I think of a Michel Gondry/Bjork collabo, I think of a disjointed, surrealist masterpiece. This doesn't even look like his typical work. It's like they took all their time building the machine and spent no time with how the whole thing would look filmed and put together.

But part of me still likes it. It's fun. I'm just waiting for a 23 year old dreadlocked Trent to get strung up in the corner by cables and tape.

The concept is very cool, but it doesn't give me eye-orgasms like a lot of her other videos.

this video would have been such a good opportunity to finally make
that follow up to the Army Of Me (which was "to be continued")

even with the whole waking the guy up and blowing up the building,
it would have fit perfectly with this become independant theme.

oh well, it's still interesting. i would have just liked to see all
that string turn into something in the end

lol

It appears there's actually going to be a physical single this time around instead of just a digital or promo release.

Still pretty spare, but at least it's something.

I like it alright, but it's kind of a let-down in a "missed opportunity" way. The whole appeal of this song as a single is the killer video treatment it could've gotten.

Ah, well.
