The version I hear on the radio every year sounds like it was recorded in the 1990s by a blues artist, probably one in my local area. . . [Edited 12/6/07 6:34am] Andy is a four letter word.

I know it brings tears to your eyes I heard a Christmas song on the radio yesterday by her and I wasn't surprised that she chose to record one of the boringest Christmas songs ever...."Do You Hear What I Hear". I had to turn the station. Andy is a four letter word.

[Edited 12/6/07 6:34am] You know, I was gonna mention the other just slightly slower bluesy version. In fact, it was recorded in '82, by the guy who wrote it; Mack Rice is from Clarksdale, Ms. ..not too far from where my mother was born. Yeah, this song has been recorded by a few artist. Rice penned some tunes @ Stax, and was a recording artist as well.

Other funky-ass faves: Jackson 5 - Up On The Housetop Otis Redding - Merry Xmas Baby Carla Thomas - Gee Whiz It's Xmas Stevie Wonder - What Xmas Means To Me Smokey Robinson - Xmas Everyday Treacherous Three - Xmas Rap (not for the faint-hearted) And incidentally I LOVE Blowfly - has he done a holiday album?

Who's been looking in my record collection? This song Backdoor Santa By Clarence Carter happend to be on the Soul Christmas Album.
