More interestingly - NIN sample Tambourine's drumbeat for a remix of Head Like a Hole. which album is that on, Head Like a Hole i mean, not sure i have that here If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

As this seems to be the NIN place to be @ P.Org, am i right in saying that the video "We are in This Together now" is one of the most outstanding videos of the last 10 yrs? If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Trent agreed, was given ground rules (no looking at Prince in the eye, do not speak until spoken too, etc - usual arrogant little prick bullshit Prince spins like a true diva). Day of remixing, Prince comes to studio, Trent walks out, offers Prince his hand and says "Prince!". Prince assumes Trent's an engineer and walks by. Trent hateth Prince.

It won an award for best video, but I dunno about going that far! I'd say The Perfect Drug video is way better.

besides, trent is making much better quality music than prince these days maybe, cant comment as I have not got any of the new material from NIN, main reason being that the earlier stuff from NIN was totally inconsistant and a far cry from being considered critically brilliant or even good for that matter, but i will have a listen to the new stuff. If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Trent hateth Prince. aha, so that is why that sound comes across during the slave song, excuse me if that all sounds abit naive, but i have listened to very little Prince for the last 12 yrs, but the NIN connection has taken me by surprise, makes me wonder with all the connections, that P has never tried something grunge style, after all, Billy Corgan is almost P´s godson, and thinks that he is P into the bargain If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

NIN are good, but dont get carried away, they or Trent are not that good, the filler music they make far out weights the great stuff they have, and i am not trying to diss, but it is the simple truth.
plus that story of Prince and Trent is aload of bolox, simply think about it and you will see why, time to take the rosy shades off If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

plus that story of Prince and Trent is aload of bolox, simply think about it and you will see why, time to take the rosy shades off The Prince and Trent is total truth. It's not a fan rumour, it was in the Press and, not to mention, I was actually first told the story by Prince fans here before I even knew who NIN were. It's well-documented. So time for you to take your rosy shades off in regards to that. I also think that Trent is hardly guilty of any filler music at all. Stand Trent next to Prince. 7 albums 20 years vs 27 albums 27 years. How many of Prince's 27 albums are fucking shit? LOTS. How many of Trent's are bad? Arguably 1 depending on the fan. You also still have told me which era you regarded as "erratic" - he's only done 7 albums, so tell me which one inconsistent? I only see an artist that grows and whose style matures with time. I see Prince as inconsistent. Enlighten me, I'm all ears.

Which material are we talking about precisely? evrything up to the double album with starfucker and we are in this together now, cant remember the exact name of the album, but i am sure it is lying around here somewhere, as for the new music, i cant say, but i look forward to hearing it If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Even though it's quadruple-platinum and launched Trent's career? If you'd said before that I'd maybe have understood, but if there's one thing that's true it's that most people only know NIN for The Downward Spiral, and nothing else. That said, if you'd said before that, I'd have said "what, broken? the album that won him a grammy?" From 1992-1995 Trent revolutionised Industrial as a genre; he brought it to the mainstream and without him groups like Manson and Rammstein wouldn't exist. So much for being a far cry from critical acclaim.

Wow, Trent's really starting to speed things up.
I also can't wait to hear the followup. Year Zero was an amazing album, if it's anything like YZ the next album has to be good. "Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart." - Khalil Gibran

I was dreamin´ when i wrote that, forgive me if it went astray I got ahold of Year Zero today plus the Pretty Hate Machine, Year Zero is brilliant, especially the 2nd half of the album, very impressive. Brought back some good old memeories which prompted me to listen to Fixed, which was the first exposure i remember having to NIN back in 1995. it is difficult to determine where Trent`s musical influences come from, and i have always somehow reckoned with Joy Division, and was amused to read today that he actually did part of the soundtrack to the film about the fore mentioned band. As for Rammstein and Manson, I would say NIN are on a slightly different level, I have seen Rammstein live, good show but NIN musically are on a different level Anyway, excuse me for the rant last night, my pc crashed after before i could reply back, but having read the post I sent, i dont think it would have been defendable If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.
