Just comes to show that she's (or he's) not just that important of a star to "airbrush".

Babies, babies, babies...! I've tried to explain that that pic is obviously a light test. At the beginning of shooting, the photographer and the assistant phtographer have to put the subject in the frame they're shooting with a little gizmo called a light meter, and start snapping away for a minute. They do this to check if they lighting they set up is complimentary to the subject's skin, and how the light measurements have to be adjusted if they didn't get it quite right. More often than not, once the subject's make-up is done, they get called over to do this very spur of the moment, and are quite often only half-dressed. No one cares, because we are used to seeing models half naked as they have to change in and out of clothes allll day long. The subject doesn't care, because 1. that' s what they do all day long lol, and 2. very often the crews ( editor, phtog, hr&mk-up, stylist, assistants ) are closely knit professionally, and the atmosphere is relaxed and easygoing somewhat like a family (albeit it a hypesensitive and dsyfunctional one)... wink

Truuuuust me, the fact that this frame got out was a complete mistake. I would bet a zillion bucks it was one of those "open the coat a little so we can see how loose we can have it without it looking too sloppy" kinda moment, it went all the way open for a few frames (who cares cause no one's going to see it anyway kinda reaction ensues, right???), and some asshole from the set was either too evil or too careless and this one (which would absolutely be edited out of the frames even given to Essence headquaters in the first place) made its way into cyberspace.

Thanks for the explanation. I must have missed it the first time around. I don't know much about that industry.

I'm also having trouble w/ the degrees of "ugly" up in here. Is there any room for people to be just "okay"? confused I've never looked @ Angie Stone or Tameka & thought, "Damn, they're ugly!" I think Tameka is cute & Angie is okay. I dunno, it's kinda strange. Facially Tameka isn't far from that Amerie chick, but people go NUTS over Amerie when her face is really pretty average. Maybe they get it mixed up - her LEGS are amazing, her face is just alright...

Sometimes I can't help but think the skin color/mixed/"not just Black" thing comes into play whether or not folks want to admit it, b/c it's definitely in play throughout the world. Sometimes we're not so different, we just like to think we are.

Don't you dare put my dear Amerie into this!

Amerie is okay, she isn't knock down dead gorgeous, I wouldn't put her in the "butt ugly" category neither...but she is a pretty sexy woman.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Light test or not, one thing is for sure, it doesn't really show her in a good light. lol

And another thing, the story about how nobody is suppose to see this is a crock of shit...anybody knows that if you take a picture and you are even an ounce of celebrity, it's gonna be out there on the internet ready to see...just ask R. Kelly.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Yup, it's not flattering.

But I stand by my statement about no one getting to see the editorial or advertising pics that've been edited out before they are shown shown to the editor, art director, or client (or if it's a product)...and even those are pre-edited down to such details as the subject having eyes closed.

The R.Kelly thing doesn't really apply to what Im saying because that was porn for personal use. The standards and practices in the world of advertising and fashion editorial are completely different. There are on of only 3 ways that the leak of this throwaway pic could have originated, and it definitely would have come from a "bad apple" with a vindictive streak and not very high standing in the industry.

And you don't think that R. Kelly's tape wasn't leaked by someone who fucking could care less about him? I think you are taking this picture thing way too seriously. Who gives a damn why it was taken, the point is she looks fuckin' ugly in the picture. Bottom line.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

You think I'm taking it too seriously? Wow, I'm puzzled how it came off that way to you... Outside of the larger discussion at hand about perception, or what constitutes beauty, or whether or not this lady is pretty or suitable enough for a celebrity, actually this is all idle chatter to me. I'm just engaging in the usual water cooler cybertalk just like everyone else here in the forum.

I typed a statement based on how this pic probably came to be, nonthing more, nonthing less...

You can trust me when I say I'm not emotionally invested, Ma....at all cool
