I have the album, and it's quirky, pop fun! Easily the top-tier of her catalog.

You'll either hate or love her interpretation of Private Joy. She doesn't invoke the same spirit as P did with the song, but for me, La Toya adds her own playfully coy spin that makes it enjoyable.

Other highlights would have to be the slight Minneapolis sounding "Hot Potato", complete with spoken word dialogue regarding a cheating lover, door knocks and a catchy chorus. "Frustration" shows La Toya toying around with a soft-rock sound with surprisingly listenable results courtesy of some co-production help from her brother Tito. "Betcha Gonna Need My Lovin'" showcases Toy throwin' down a bit of funk towards an estranged suitor. The other tracks aren't too bad themselves either.

Definitely an overlooked piece of 80's pop at its best.

I can't stand it. I prefer night time lover and shake your groove thing from her first album. Her new stuff like no more drama, armed and famous and i just wanna dance are catchy too.

I´ve heard it just once in some MJ documentary on MTV. Unfortunately for La Toya, they played Another part of me right after it and it was an unbelievable difference. Next to Mike, she looked and sounded like an idiot.

I know right? No wonder she flopped in the 80's, mj and janet made her sound like shit without even trying

*thinking back to 1996 madtv skit*

latoya: do you know what it's like being the only jackson who can't do anything?
michael: *giggles* NO!

falloff Good, one. I have never seen any of these skits. I just saw some of them on Jetzi´s site and I was screaming laughing watching them, especially those about Mike and Lisa Marie.

I found it recently at a used record store in their classic dance/disco department. It was maybe $2? I think I've seen it for a lot online. I liked it. Her verison of "Private Joy" is very Latoya. It's cute.

SoulAlive

don't try to hide it
with words that just aren't true
It's showing in your eyes
and I feel it,and so do you

why do I remember those lyrics? nuts

I think LaToya only had one decent song: "Nighttime Lover" (1980) music and it's only good because her brother Michael wrote and produced it,lol.

The song is a little cheesy, but I always liked it. I don't know anything else about the rest of the album.
