Rolling Stones - "Paint It Black"

I'm not a huge Stones fan, but I dig this tune lots. I like the distorted guitar and sitar.

I like the Mephisto Walz cover.

This song has been covered too many times.

You can thank...

...Brian Jones for that.

The majority of those non-R&R instruments (sitar, recorder, marimbas, mellotron, dulcimer, etc.) you hear in those early Rolling Stones records are courtesy of Brian Jones.

What it is Aud. don't know who on here remembers this, but I ran a thread of this very song. I mentioned that their was some controversy about the song's title when it came out. Many thought it was a racial dig towards blacks because of the placement of the comma in the song "Paint It, Black". U know, like "Paint It, Steve". I remember reading an interview on Keith Richards where the cat asked Keith about the comma. Keith said that it was an error at the printing place!Anyway, it's my favorite Stones song and I have many songs I love by them, so that's saying something. Great lyrics too.

I think I first became aware of this song as the theme for the TV series Tour of Duty.
