The Return Of Led Zeppelin

The latest RS cover story is Zep and about secret rehearsals and the possibility of a tour. excited

Can you imagine the crush for tickets for this thing if they do it...

This is one of the few bands that I'd be willing to pay a pretty penny to see.

Yeah i like how the cover doesnt include Jason with them, since they are the originals. I think its cool when bands do that, i noticed Bon Jovi always does this with there bass player Hugh Mcdonald who joined when original bass player was let go in 1994, Hugh is never in the band photos for press or cds, and he is listed seperatley from the lineup in the credits

unkemptpueblo

According to Rollingstone.com, Ian Astubury of The Cult claims that THe Cult is the opening act. They kinda made it seem as if he didnt know what he was talking about, though.

After 13 years? And he replaced a guy that was FIRED? He's been in the band longer than the guy the fired!

WTF?

Its the way it is with them, Jon even said if/when they get into the RnR hall of Fame that Alec (original guy) will be up there with them, im sure they would allow Hugh also, but they said it wouldnt be right without the original, also i think Jon feels guilty that they voted him out of the band, but it mainly for addiction issues and some other personal things.

If the original guy was so important, I wonder why they fired him?

When it happend it really wasnt talked about too much, Jon always said the band is like the Mafia, and that shit is their business. And Alec never really did any press that talked about it, so it seemed mutual and not fought. There were some rumours it was addiction to drugs that led to sloppy playing and things like that, but i think there was something more personal going on within.

lol true! It's sort of like admitting that your band is done and cannot possibly incorporate any new changes.

I understand not having hired guns like a backup singer or sax player be on the cover of RS, with you, but if you're a reg'lar part of the band it seems exclusionary.

But on the other hand, calling the current incarnation of Guns 'n' Roses by that name is a little misleading, too.

Yes, Jason Bonham is the drummer. In fact, much of the RS article is from him. I swear, I will beg, borrow, cheat, steal... whatever I have to do to get tickets to this show if its anywhere in my vicinity.

I think the better gig for Jason was Damnocracy with Ted Nugent and Sebastian Bach.

Looks like Bonnaroo in 2008. Manchester, Tennessee.

Yeah that's the rumor.

Report: Led Zep, Metallica For Bonnaroo Led Zeppelin

December 03, 2007, 12:25 PM ET

Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Led Zeppelin will play its first U.S. show since July 24, 1977, this June at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tenn., according to an email published in industry commentator Bob Lefsetz's newsletter. The report also says Metallica will headline the event.

Speculation about additional shows for Zeppelin, which will play a stated one-off Dec. 10 in London in tribute to late Atlantic founder Ahmet Ertegun, has been buzzing for weeks.

A Bonnaroo spokesperson had no comment on the email. A Led Zeppelin spokesperson could not be reached at deadline.

Summer Zeppelin shows would reportedly conflict with a tour by frontman Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, which is presently being booked. However, Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has played at Bonnaroo on several occasions, most recently this summer when he jammed on his old band's songs with Ben Harper and the Roots' ?uestlove.

As for Metallica, Bonnaroo would likely provide a launching pad for the group's next album, expected sometime in 2008 via Elektra.

I hear that Plant wants to be bought out of his tour with Allison Krause or also get booked as a separate actfor Bonnaroo.
