No one band was more funky than P-Funk. Not even Prince.

On the other hand, I've seen PFunk more than 75 times since 1986. I've seen them as headliner, opener and sole performer. Sets ranged from 75 - 200 minutes. Performances range average to great, but being a longtime Maggot, the atmosphere is like being family.
In that time, I've seen OP twice (missed one other cuz I was too drunk to drive). First time they were in the middle of a Blues Fest lineup and the other time they headlined a touring funk-fest of 4. Both sets were very good, but they never did more than 75 minutes. Conclusion: The prolonged highs of PFUNK were more intense on their longest shows, plus there's a personal connection. OP rarely toured and compacted all their hits into a smaller pkg, so they come off as the greater crowd pleaser. However, there's no way they could hold down a 3 hr gig featuring just themselves. test

Both are BADD!!!, but to be honest (my opinion) not too many bands can mess with them dudes from Dayton, Ohio, but both groups are great....but as for jazz, soul, and funk OHIO PLAYERS all the way!!!!

But the question was about funky, not pop-py. Parliament all the way.

But the question was about funky, not pop-py. Parliament all the way. I just provided the information. You can divine your conclusion as is necessary, but read my other post. [Edited 12/2/07 17:15pm] test

If we talking about pure funk...not counting P-Funks enormous catalog but only Parliament.....
I'll choose Parliament. Ohio Players were a great funk band but never had a song as funky as Flashlight or We Want The Funk. Not as funky even live. Fact-- Did you know Funkadelic was the first act to be signed to Westbound before the OP.

Never really got into Parliament. I like a lot of their songs but never really went that deep. So on that basis I would pick the Players.
But if we bring Funkadelic into the picture then the players would lose any day of the week in my book. And oh Junie Morrison is one of the most underrated artist of all time.

Why would you mention Prince in particular? Prince isn't half as funky as most of the real funk bands that came out in the seventies It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
