Ok, yes I've heard the song Boogie Fever, but I want to know more about this band. I've heard that they have quite both tragedy and trimuphant filled stories about them. I've also heard that they weren't the chart-topping musicial families as the Jacksons were, but I will say that they were definitely more musically-based than many of those bands. Anyone has any more info about them?

You don't know the Sylvers. They came after similar family bands like the Five Stairsteps and the J5. Edmund even voiced Marlon in the J5 cartoon.

I played some Dynasty earlier today - Right Back At Cha', that should have been a Sylvers jam fo' sho.

Foster Sylver had a hit called "Misdemenor" which is a underground R&B classic. Easy to find for download or on many compilations. It was often mistaken for another jam by the Jackson 5.

His solo lp though is very hard to find.

He was like the Jimmy Osmond of the group. He actually had a couple of solo LPs, (like Jimmy) but wasn't the lead or co-lead. Their biggest hit "Boogie Fever" his only words in the song are "We kept it going strong."

I remember Wendy Williams discussing it and it was also on mediatakeout.com. I don't remember what he did. he was kinda cute for an older man.

I remember reading a interview w/Foster saying he was going to take bass guitar lessons from Bootsy.

If there was a lead singer, it was the late Edmund Sylvers. Initially, several members including Edmund took turns singing lead but in their later years Edmund performed the lead vocals on The Sylvers' biggest hits.

I always thought that The Syvlers were basically what The Jacksons would have been if Michael Jackson was not a member. Basically, a lineup of Jermaine, Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Randy (and possibly Latoya).

I remember the Sylvers, especially Foster and Edmund. I had the Boogie Fever album. I knew some of them did production work outside of the group but didn't know what songs. Now listening to the Concept album I can hear their sound in the Whispers and Shalamar songs. Shame to read about Foster's current sitch.

All I know is if I don't get my hands on "Forever Yours" in some form soon, I'm gonna... be bummed

Seriously though, I've been looking for it on cd/mp3 for YEARS now

I was listening to the music spots of their 1977 album, New Horizons from this Youtube clip and I was pretty impressed. This was one musical family that really had a mature sound, getting into jazzier and funky sounds of that time. It's one particular song from that album that I think is groovy, which is, Starfire. It has that cool, pimp-sounding, gangster-lean groove to it that is unbeatable to me. It's a shame that most of their output hasn't been reissued to CD yet and the albums are still out of print.
