Jackson Five 'could tour in 2008'

Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/h...113211.stm

Jackson Five 'could tour in 2008'

The Jackson Five are to reunite for a tour, with Michael Jackson set to take part, brother Jermaine has said.
He told BBC 6 Music that concert dates have been discussed and could take place "sometime in 2008".

"Michael will be involved," the singer and guitarist confirmed. "We feel we have to do it one more time. We owe that to the fans and to the public. "

The group last toured as The Jacksons - with six members - in support of the Victory album in 1984.

Lead singer Michael, who had already released the million-selling Thriller album, was reportedly reluctant to go on the road with his brothers.

He told the audience on the last night of the tour that he was leaving the group.

Michael will be involved - he was at the meetings

They released one more album, 1989's 2300 Jackson Street, before formally disbanding in 1990.

Rumours of a reunion have circulated for years, and Jermaine confirmed that the project was delayed by Michael's trial for child abuse in 2005.

"There's been so much going on, getting over all the hurdles that we all were faced with during Michael's trial," he said.

"But we are stronger than ever. I'm gonna say thank you, thank you, thank you so much to all the fans and the supporters of my family all over Europe, all over the UK especially, who came out to show their love and their support."

Jermaine, who sang lead vocals for the band until his younger brother took over, added that Michael would definitely be part of the reunion.

"He has to be," he said. "He is a Jackson."

"He was at the meetings. Michael will be involved."

The star also hinted at new material, saying that the band was "in the studio at the moment".

The Jacksons - featuring brothers Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Jermaine, Michael and Randy, found fame in the 1970s with hits such as I Want You Back, ABC and Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) and Can You Feel It.

Michael's success eclipsed that of his brothers in the 1980s, while sister Janet also rose to prominence - racking up seven US top ten singles from her Rhythm Nation 1814 album.

In the UK, Jermaine Jackson was seen as a contestant on this year's Celebrity Big Brother.

I don´t want any press articles. I want an official release date from a recording company.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

1.None of them wear jheri curls(with the exception of Jermaine with his caked up, greased up, pile of hair he calls a fade)
2.The only one with the perm is Mike.
3.They didn't wear weird costumes when they released 2300 Jackson Street and they didn't wear them during the 30th Anniversary Shows. The ONLY one who STILL does is Michael lol
4.They're all in pretty good shape, except Randy who is fat now. Marlon still got the moves, Tito is still one hell of a guitar player, my homie Jackie never gained weight:

5.They can all sing. Joe and his belt made sure of that lol

You know what....I'm just ignore you....anyway....

A Jacksons tour WOULD work. It's just Michael's lazy ass that's the problem lol

I think you are sadly mistaken. The Jacksons, for the most part, have more sense than that. I think it would work and I think it would be really good.

Jackie has aged beautifully ( why didn't Michael ever take note of his oldest brother) As for the tour I doubt it would happen. This as usual is probably coming from Jermaine. I swear at times Jermaine seems more deluded than Michael.

I'm cool off all that stuff from Bad. We need some of those funk jams from the Motown/Epic days. If they got together it would be huge. Get yo checkbooks ready cause if it happens, it's gonna cost ya!

But it will be worth every penny.

I know. lol But it kinda look like Tito lost a little bit of weight in that picture though that could be because the other family members are surrounding him. lol

Man, these guys are very limber for their ages:
Jackie (56)
Tito (54)
Jermaine (53)
Marlon (50)
Michael (49)

Only Randy seem to have got lost in the battle of the bulge but he still look too young to just be 46. biggrin

According to Roger, MJ for the time being is living with his parents and family. If this is the case, this would explain things a bit. I can totally see Jermaine and the rest of the brothers ganging up on Michael, right when he arrives, them bringing this up to him.

Sure he might go to the meetings and whatnot, but I can bet you money, this "tour" won't get past the meeting phase.

Michael will live with someone else long before any dates are booked.

1. I can't see a tour, maybe a one night only concert, but not a tour.

2. Those costumes are great. (Remember, when the Jacksons performed in MSG, they wore silk fabric and jeans, not space suits) It's better than coming out in baggy pants and a t-shirt, or dressing up in suits. I'm too young to remember when artist Black artist use to put on a show and wear silver and rhinestone shit like Labelle, Cameo, Commodores, P-Funk/Bootsy, EWF, etc.

3. 40 and 50 is not old at all. Look at the Rolling Stones, those guys are damn near 70 and they still can rock the stage. And the Jacksons are in better shape than the RS, particlarly Jackie and Jermaine.

4. I would rather hear new music from the Jacksons rather than see a concert

Well in order for them to do an album, they would have to go on tour anyway. lol
