Gang of Four

Anyone into socio-political messages or Marxist ideology...with a hard-rockin' yet FONKAAAY beat to dance to? If you haven't done so already, listen to the Gang of Four. They haven't had any major hits or anything like that but that doesn't necessarily mean they're an invalid band either. So are there any .orgers out there who have had the chance to listen to the band that makes you wanna dance & think at the same time? Gang of Four has sure gotten my attention.
Peace

"I Find That Essence Rare" is a punk gem!

The Gang of Four are definitely one of the greatest punk bands. However, around 1983 they started to go a little too pop new wave.

"Entertainment" is the album to get.

"Not Great Men" is the jam. Makes me want to get up and dance right now.

Love them. Such Classics as Damaged Goods,I Love A Man In a Uniform . They were around when Prince was rockin at the Old Ritz back in the 80's. My Aunt used to go to see them and said they were absolutely Fantastic. I have since bought their albums in the Village.

A little piece of trivia: Andy Gill, the guitarist of Go4, produced the Red Hot Chili Peppers first album in 1984. There's also the myth that Mr. Gill was delivered a pizza box with a fresh turd inside by the funky four due to his awful production.
