Alicia Keys vs Liberace?! I know nothing about playing piano but I wanted to ask some of you that might. How great of a piano player is A. Keys in comparrison to Liberace? I'm sure they have differenmt styles but it would be interesting to hear how she compares to him. He was quite a maestro wasn't he and don't get me started on his bling! Well, one difference that I can tell U. Liberace wasn't as boring to watch as Alicia & her "I wanna be soul singer" songs. Liberace did his thing..I'm still waiting for Alicia to do her own thing. | |

[Edited 11/28/07 10:50am] In terms of Piano playing Alicia is ok, but like alot of artists we need to see them down and dirty on tours when the cameras arent on them, also, let them grow up too. I didnt realize till last year how great a musician Harry Connick Jr is, and i have all his records, (about 20) this guy could play circles around alot of people that we think are great, and then on Bass, even Prince would get the FUNK face. So i dont think Alicia is on that level mainly because her music does not feature raging piano solos and things like that, so to me in terms of piano its Harry,Elton and Billy and even Manilow in terms of "mainstream" artists. liberace seems like he was no joke and put on quite a show. what a diva! i guess over time we'll see how great A. Keys is. it's still kind of early days for her. can we talk about liberace's clothes for a second? nobody can talk about bling nowadays. none of these rappers are half as pimp as liberace was. he should get his name dropped on some rap records. | |

While I'm no great fan of either, if I had a time machine and could attend a gig by either artist, it'd be Lee (as Liberace was known) every time  . A great entertainer and flashy, classical piano player. Like him or not a true one-off, which is less than can be said for Ms Keys imo.

that's like comparing Stallions with ponies.. different leagues .. Alicia is nowhere near Liberace ... Prince, by the skin of his teeth, is almost not in Liberace's boat.. 2:10 minutes into this vid.. he really goes to town..
