Not trying to sound ignorant but why Does it seem like white girls like Joss Stone receive so much credit for being the next Aretha Franklin I mean she does not even have the power and range of an Aretha.Just because she has a little huskiness in her voice does not really qualify her for being the next Aretha.

Who and how often are these comparisons being made? You won't get that comparison here in this forum, that's for sure 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

agree... sometimes her voice sounds as though three differnt voices are comming out.. and she doesn't know how to control her vocals... she can sing okay.. but IMO she sounds like she is straining....

I've never heard anyone (in this forum or elsewhere) suggest that Joss is the next Aretha Franklin

I believe that she is getting more credit than what she deserves and I do agree on her voice. It does sound different I notice too when she uses her high voice it is really annoying. Too me her voice is average

I think Joss' voice is kinda cool, but not even close to the same level as Aretha. I reject that comparison. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Aretha Franklin is a phenomenal singer (Well, at least she "WAS". I haven't been impressed, lately. But, really, there's no need for me to be impressed. She's already made her mark and proved her point.).

Joss Stone when she was a novelty. trying to pass her off as as a singer or artist of merit finished it for me.
