Trying to remember what came out this year, the only ones on my mind are MeShell, Jill Scott & Common. I'm enjoying MeShell the most, Jill second...

IstenSzek said: windmill - "puddle city racing lights" That's a great cover, will check it out on that alone... For me it was Arcade Fire, Neon Bible. It's just on the verge of seeming hysterical and overdramatic, but it manages to walk the line perfectly, actually making me care about Winn Butler's bad dreams of the future. Of course it helps that the little details of the music are gorgeous, the mariachi band, the way melodies pop up as hints early in songs and then go full blown at the end. It pretty much just takes over my logical brain and connects on some weird, primal level. [Edited 11/25/07 7:29am]

Meshell - The World (creator) Has Made Me The Man (album) Of My Dreams.
but... NIN - Year Zero. Still listening, still sounds great. Radiohead - In Rainbows. Each listen reaps new rewards. Coming soon, Part 2. Prince - Planet Earth. Before all the s@*# went down, was on regular rotation. Seal - System. Even if it's my least fav, it's still Seal. Chaka Kahn - Funk This. I don't really put it on that much, but when I do... Ben Harper - Lifelines. Needed! Oh so needed. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

Saadiq produced this shit out of this album... too bad folks were too caught up into tabloid-ish nonsense and ignored the content. because it was released in the U.S. in 07, I count is as an 07 release. Damn near perfect album... once again too many folks caught up into Amy's personal shit to appreciate this LP. The Radiohead cover is amazing... Killer album... It's Dilla... of course I love it Thrilled to get the outtakes from Hey Now Hey (Other Side of the Sky) & Let Me In Your Life The close but no cigar awards go to: The What the Fuck Were You Thinking This Year award goes to: [Edited 11/25/07 12:54pm]

Meshell Ndegeocello - The World has Made me the Man of My Dreams.
Blindsided. I had no idea she would/could be able to put something like that out there. Biggest surprise of the year. NIN - Year Zero Second biggest surprise of the year. Trent hasn't pulled it together this well since the Downward Spiral. It didn't seem forced and there are equal parts gorgeous moments (In this Twilight) and ass-kicking ear benders (God Given- the last 30 seconds of which makes me giggle like a school girl). I was ready to give up on him after With Teet.. Thanks for proving me wrong Mr. Reznor. Radiohead - In Rainbows Not what I was expecting/hoping for, but everything I didn't know I needed.

first Ryan Adams album I ever bought, was a very pleasant surprise...definitly a fan after this one Brad is yet to release an album that's anything less than absolutely amazing...this one doesn't do that either, cause it's even better than all that came before. In this age of in your face commercialism, brad is always a safe bet for quality and craftsmanship as far as music is concerned, dwight's the real deal !!! enough said! Had a revival of interest in the fab 4 this year, this fitted right in! great album discovered this guy recently...very beatiful voice and definitly a great singer! [Edited 11/27/07 1:14am] It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

Eldar... ...re-imagination I agree. I remember we traded responses on this in one of the "What Are You Listening To Now?" threads over the summer. It is a really good album. The arrangements on "South Bixel" and "Polaris" are fantastic. Those two along with the opener "Remember When" really impressed me.

I was going to say mika, but you beat me to it. That and B'Day deluxe edition, and duran duran's new ones are good. Timbaland, Rihanna, Maroon 5 and Robin Thicke have some nice singles on their albums, but I don't like them as whole albums.

In Rainbows--Radiohead
Every song kicks ass. I actually paid money for it, and it was worth every penny. It's as haunting and powerful as ever. It might be their best work since OK Computer. American Doll Posse--Tori Amos She is back in top form with this album. It's raw, feisty, gorgeous, and lovely all at once. I saw her play here in Nashville a couple of weeks ago, and I am still in awe of her talent. Not Too Late--Norah Jones I think this may be my favorite album of hers. It seems much more personal and intimate than her others. She does this without taking away from the subtlety and understated style that has defined her. The song "Sinkin' Soon" is a fun and rather dark departure. She seems to really be evolving in her own quiet way.
