The New Bee Gees Greatest Hits Album...

Has anyone here bought their new Greatest Hits album that came out last month and is it worth purchasing? I'm a huge Bee Gees fan but I don't know if I want to spend my money on this if it's just going to be the same old rehashed songs.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

Are you referring to the remaster of their 1979 'Greatest Hits' album? It contains a few bonus tracks (remixes) but that's not enough to make me buy it again.

Yeah, this is just a remaster of their 2-album Greatest Hits set that came out in late 1979.They added a few bonus tracks, but it's just remixes and I'm not too sure if I want to hear their music "modernized" in any way.In addition, this set focuses on their mid to late-70s material,so if you already have the albums 'Main Course,'Children Of The World','Saturday Night Fever' and 'Spirits Having Flown'(albums that every fan should already have),this set is unnecessary.

Yes, that's the one i'm referring to. I was hoping there would be some unreleased tracks on there or something.... argh, well I guess I wont be buying this afterall. I wonder if The Bee Gees ever plan on releasing material in the future though? I know I read somewhere that Barry said they wouldn't tour again because of the untimely death of Maurice sad which is totally understandable but I would like to hear new material from them.

Yeah,I'm getting tired of all these compilations with the same songs.I'd rather that they remaster the 70s albums and include some real bonus tracks, for a change.

save your money if you already have it. the remixes are terrible. the only good one is how dep is your love, and even that one pales next to the original. i got mine at walmart for $7.99 so ian't mad, cuz i needed it anyway.

There's only one unreleased song on the album, Warm Ride. It's okay, a pretty average number they passed over to Rare Earth. Graham Bonnet covered it, too.
Barry and Robin are hoping to record again together soon. Robin said they may put something out next year.

The remastered Odessa is set for release early next year. That's album number 4.
Only another 7 to go before they hit Main Course. biggrin

Don't buy this. Record companies hit a new low with this...remastering a basic greatest hits from over 25 years ago when they have (at least) twice released different more defentive collections that put this very limited selection to shame. I almost bought it too since I have no Bee Gees and would like a hits set but this one, "Their Greatest Hits: The Record", is a proper two disc release filled with songs and is up to date (2001...don't know if they released anything since).

That's a decent 2-CD compilation,but I do have a few complaints:

***Why include "If I Can't Have You"? I never liked their version. The Yvonne Elliman cover version is superior.

***Why isn't there anything from the 1983 'Stayin Alive' movie soundtrack?

***Where is their late-80s hit "Bodyguard"? I like that one alot music

lol I'm just nit-picking,it's a good set.

Exactly, the label is just milking them for sure "fan sales", but the collection from 2001 is one of the best collections for any artist. This collection took you from day one to the end really, though at the time it wasnt meant to be the end.

Cinnie

My mom had the vinyls. I got the CD that must have been issued in the 90s.

I don't think the "extras" are worth it.

And I prefer having my 2-CD jewel case as opposed to that digipack (is anyone else like this? i know digipacks are popular but i think it causes unneeded scuffing).
