uh no...none of mary's remakes are better than the originals

I personally prefer her version of "I'm Going Down". The original is a bit more sentimental for my taste, esp the crying @ the end.

I also loved her duet with Faith Evans on "Love Don't Live Here Anymore", you could tell that both women drew from their deep pain @ the time.

I love Mary, but lets keep it real. Chaka owns this song.

Its hard 4 me to listen to the Rolls Royce version of that song and that might have somehting to do with it. it souds way to sad for me.

I partake on the Madonna's 1983 version

Is it blasphemy to state this simple fact? Sure, Chaka first did it, but Mary j Blige just did it better, sang it better. I love Chaka, but truth is truth.

It's nice but it's not like Stevie's. In fact, I don't know a lot of covers that outdo the originals. I even prefer the original version of "I'm Going Down" than Mary's though I do like Mary's covers.

i like Mary's better because that's the one i grew up with. it doesnt make it the better version really. i think it's just a matter of personal taste. Chaka may technically the better singer with a bigger range but you can't deny the rough around the edges, raw emotional approach that Mary brings to a track. i think it's about what you prefer from a singer.

Yeah, you're so right about that. Mary brings a raw vulnerability to that song but Chaka brings it to you. I love the two extremes. I love both versions.

im a big mary fan but for some reason i never like her remakes. i can listen to every song on my life except 'im goin down'. i did appreciate her version of 'everlasting love' but it still comes no where near chaka/rufus original.
