LIPPS INC.

The only song I know from them are "Funkytown" Are their music worth checking out? I want to get their greatest hits cd but I don't want to buy it and be very disappointed.

SoulAlive

Look for their first album 'Mouth To Mouth',released in 1980.It only contains four songs, but it's a disco masterpiece."Funkytown" was the hit,but my favorite songs are "All Night Dancing" and the relentless "Rock It" headbang

Hard to believe, but "Rock It" was actually their first single, released in late 1979 but it bombed.

Funkyworld: The Best of Lipps, Inc.

    1. Funkytown
    2. All Night Dancing
    3. Rock It
    4. How Long
    5. Tight Pair
    6. Jazzy
    7. Designer Music
    8. Hold Me Down
    9. Addicted To The Night
    10. Choir Practice
    11. Does Anybody Know Me
    12. Hit The Deck

Just saw this on Amazon. If this is the Greatest Hits CD you were thinking of getting, I'd say you can't go wrong. Along with the cuts SoulAlive mentioned, I liked "Tight Pair" and "Designer Music" too. In fact, I'd like to have this CD myself - better tag it for my Wish List.

You forgot "Power". That was the fourth song and it was an ass shaker. Actually, all four songs are great and they are long versions. Even if someone has the 45 of "Funkytown", they should still get the album to get the long version because it is worth it.

Oh hell yeah,"Power" rocks too headbang I like the fact that the album only has four songs. The long versions are outstanding. The single version of "Funkytown" is dull, imo. You need the full-length album version.

Yeah, you can't go wrong with this compilation. If it included "Power",it would be perfect lol but it's a fine compilation, containing the full-length album versions and good liner notes.Plus, the albums are hard to find.Interestingly, the last few songs on this CD feature vocalist Margaret Cox,who later became "Tamara" of Tamara and The Seen, and then worked with Prince in the 90s ("Standing At The Altar").She appparently got her start as a member of Lipps Inc.
