CHERRELLE In my opinion , she has to be one of the most underrated artist that Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis ever worked with. Everybody that I know never heard of her music except "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On" and her duets with Alexander O'Neal. My favorite albums from her are "High Priority" and "Affair". I only like two songs from her album "Fragile". She truly was a good singer in my opinion.

I agree. IMO, she was overshadowed by Ms. Jackson. I wonder what would've happened had Cherrelle been given the instrumentals to the songs that made "Control", would Cherrelle have similar lyrics? I would think so.

I don't know about the "Control" lyrics because Cherrelle is a lot older than her. The music? Maybe.

On the thread "Celebs u find HOT now that U did not as a kid" I put Cherrelle. She opened for New Edition a few years ago, and I told my wife I didn't remember Cherelle being fine. She looked good. She also sang very well. She was a last minute replacement for En Vogue and she didnt have a set or anything. She just sang her songs and interacted with the crowd.

You know, if Cherrelle would have been presented like Ciara was to this new generation, she would have been BIG!!. The major drawback with Cherelle was that she couldn't really dance. She could sing her ass off, but her performance skills were weak in compairson. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I wish she would come out with new music. The last album that she made came out in 1999 called "The Right Time" and my brother(who has the cd)said it was NOT her best music. If she decides to make new music , she needs to have great producers working on her new cd like Jam and Lewis , Narada Michael Walden , Babyface , or even Raphael Saadiq just to name a few.

LOL Man, I'm straight gettin' my old man on...here goes...KIDS TODAY will never know what it felt like when you'd be driving in the car or out at a club and you'd hear the first 10 to 15 seconds of "Saturday Love" come on...you remember how the long version started with JUST THE ACAPELLA part. THAT record is one of the TRUE JOYS of my existence.
"I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" more so than the "On The Rise" LP was where you REALLY FELT Jimmy and Terry going from MPLS into something that was truly their own. The keyboards on that song are pure Time but the bass configurations was SOME WHOLE OTHER SHIT. That song just blows me away.

She was my favorite babe along with janet in the 1980's.
I fell in love with cherelle when i first heard when you look in my eyes. She not only had that sweet seductive voice but she could get it going on the uptempo jams too like fragile, you look good to me, artificial heart, affair, etc. I would love to see cherelle live. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

SHe also has a "Best Of" but it has less tracks. Better off with this one. Great tracks. She could pull off ballads and uptempo with the same amount of passion and skill.
