Magic is probably my favourite. Then A Little More Love. And I think Heart Attack is one of her best, too.

Given that Heart Attack was one of two new tracks for that release, yes...give it props. biggrin Though better compilations have since come out, it's by no means bad.

Olivia's 1988 big commercial-flop release, THE RUMOUR, was actually one of her most critically-acclaimed and personal albums to date. It was produced by Davitt Sigerson (Tori Amos' Little Earthquakes) and contains four songs written/co-written by Olivia. The album embraces Olivia's major concern for the environment with "Let's Talk About Tomorrow" and concern for social issues like AIDS with "Love And Let Live". Elton John practically handed her a 'hit-song' with the lead-off single "The Rumour". It, of course, was not a hit in the USA. I think it is one of Olivia's best CD's. It has held up over the years and sounds great 19 years after it's release. Check it out.

Olivia Newton-John - THE RUMOUR (MCA)

Track Listing:
1. The Rumour
2. Love And Let Live
4. Can't We Talk It Over In Bed
5. Let's Talk About Tomorrow
6. It's Not Heaven
7. Get Out
8. Big And Strong
9. Car Games
10. Tutta La Vita

I actually have this one. You are right...it still sounds good. My girlfriend breaks it out every now and then. Surprised it wasn't a hit. The title song is catchy as hell.

I was going to say that is such an awesome collection. I was just looking through my CD collection and I can't find disc one...could have put it in just about any case! Touches on just about everything (or at least everything that was commerically succesful in the US). Those "Gold" sets are often really good at giving a good sampling of an artists career by including all the big hits and lesser known but popular at the time tracks.

"Fool Country" is a surprising addition since it's a b-side...sounds really good and not typical of any Olivia before or after.

"Landslide" is almost the opposite of a cover of the Fleetwood Mac/Stevie song...it's such crash pop and silly.

Love those early 80's videos! This one, like several of her videos of the time, featured her then future husband, Matt Lattanzi, as her "love interest".
