Okay. Yeah, nobody in the past 50 years of music is original IMHO, but if I like a song than I like a song, liking an artist comes secondary to that. People compared MJ to James Brown. People compared Prince to Jimi Hendrix and Sly. People compared Madonna to Debbie Harry. Now, we have new versions of Prince, MJ, and Madonna on the charts. Music is based of off personal preference, so arguing about Kylie being better than Janet, or vice versa is kinda pointless especially since they both started out on TV shows. Janet just had the upper hand because she was a Jackson. We didn't have 'Neighbours' in the US, but I don't know if 'Good Times' was on TV in Australia, so . I had never even heard of 'Neighbours' until 1999 and I called it the foreign version of 'Friends' when I heard what it was about. God, how I hated 'Friends' Saying one is better than the other is like saying Fuji apples are better than MacIntosh apples...they're both damn apples, with slightly different tastes. Now, if you're going to compare apples to oranges, than that's a different story. I wanna see a Madonna/Janis Joplin comparison or Britney/Bjork comparison. Compare Justin Timberlake to Frank Sinatra, so I can see a real debate.
