This is one of my favorite jams from isaac hayes from the masterpiece
shaft soundtrack. The vocals on it are not very long but if you have the
album or cd there is a jammin ass 19 minute version with the last 5 minutes of the song having a very dark tone to it. This is an excellent example of how a song is well crafted by excellent musicians with isaac using a lot of the stax musicians including the upstart barkays. I remember being 7 years old and waiting for my dad to go to work so i can sneak and listen to this masterpiece soundtrack album.

I can´t really listen to the edited version because the long version was the one I heard first, and the short edit just sounds wrong to me.
By the way, my version is 21 minutes long, not 19.

There´s another great , very long song called Joy off of an album with the same name, Joy.
I love those looooong Isaac Hayes jams. His music teacher hipped him to some classical music, and that´s one reason why he came up with such long ass songs.
Isaac is da man.

Classic jam from Mr. Hot-Buttered Soul. They don't make 'em like this anymore. As woogie said, the rhythm section is f-cking sick.
