70s Eurodisco song of the day: "Now I Need You" by Donna Summer (1977) http://www.youtube.com/wa...hOvY_eIsFQ
This has always been my favorite song from the 'Once Upon A Time' album. It's a dark, haunting Eurodisco track with an eerie beat. The background vocals on the chorus sound almost creepy What I really love is how this song segues into the next song ("Working The Midnight Shift")....the synthesizer work by Giorgio Moroder is trippy! It feels like you're at a disco in the late 70s,stoned out of your mind and having all these crazy illusions, lol.

not really. The album was a 2-LP set,and the entire Side Two could be considered the "Eurodisco side".It starts off with "Now I Need You",then segues into "Workin The Midnight Shift",then closes with "Queen For A Day".All three songs are very edgy and electronic....this was basically early techno. as for the rest of the album....most of the songs are standard disco ("Faster and Faster To Nowhere","Fairy Tale High","I Love You") and there's a few R&B tracks ("A Man Like You" being the best). It's a concept album based on the Cinderella tale.

That one side is amazing. it's like "I Feel Love" but with actual song's attached to the driving electronic beats. "Now I Need You" is the best of the great bunch, though.

Exactly."I Feel Love" is cold and robotic and it's really just Donna whispering over Giorgio's synthesizer."Now I Need You" is superior because it actually has a melody. There's an actual song there.
