There is no piano in her new video.

Anyway, I LOVE the CD now. eek I just "got it" yesterday and it's brilliant. Of course, there are talented people that deserve the same success Alicia has, but this is probably one of the best commercial CD's this year.

The music isn't the same as on SIAM, but Alicia has picked it up lyrically. The piano touches that she adds on songs like No One, LYNSMA(the beginning), and Lesson Learned(the bridge) are brilliant, just for the simple fact that she doesn't do too much or too little, but lets her talent be shown.

Can you share what it is you "got"?

I mean it just clicked with me and I love it now. What she mentioned that she tried to do with "I Need You" I get. She said that she wanted the song to continuously build and it does just that.

I get the whole Janis Joplin inspiration on "Sure Looks Good To Me." I get how she said that there is something on there for everyone. She touches on and crosses every genre and it's believable.

She crosses every genre??? I didn't hear that. I'll have to listen to it again. I didn't hear country, metal, folk, blues, dance, latin, or eastern genres

Yes I do. I thought she lost me with this new album, but I really like it and see improvements.

What do you mean by gayest interview lol? Was it Ryan Seacrest?

"Alicia Keys new song sucks"

That can pretty much be said for the whole CD.
Although I give her props for bringing back an old school technique of starting out mid-tempo and speeding up the song in "Thing About Love", most of the CD is mediocre. Her arrangements are BORING. She should have taken the drum loop in the beginning of "I Need You" and used it on "Go Ahead" and discarded "I Need You" completely so she'd have at least one song with a tiny bit of bite to it. I think I'm starting to feel about Alicia the way Vainandy feels about Whitney Houston only without the hate. Alicia is possibly one of the unfunkiest artists in the R&B genre. She music seems sterile on CD. She needs to stop those rap producers from making her drum beats. It sounds like she has a rap producer lay down the drum track and she comes in and plays piano over it and someone else comes in and arranges around it. If that's what she's doing, that doesn't work for her. Her tracks are lame and lifeless. I tried. I honestly tried. I had higher hopes for Alicia but her music is not growing.

To be honest, I don't think Alicia can jam to anything uptempo. Forget about funk, she never had any dance tracks on any of her albums. For this reason alone, Alicia is so overrated.

"Heartburn", and even on her new CD there is a song called "I Need You" that has a faster tempo. Also "Go Head" lets her breathe away from the piano for a second.

Come on, why would anyone want Alicia, a piano player, to make a club joint lol?

Good track. But it's still within mid-tempo range.

A piano player can't make a club joint? I'm not talking about mindless crap. Prince has club joints, Michael, Mary J,Elton, etc have had club joints

...but let's forget about the club. Her music is just slow. I can't even boogie at home to it. I can rock and bop my head, but I can't boogie. I want to hear something exciting. I listen rock music faster than this that I can dance to
