Well I didn't pay for it. I still haven't listened to it (still downloading). I'm not a true rap fan, but knowing that TR produced it, I am gonna give it a try

It goes all over the place. (!)

Great lyrics.
Not for the ones who never ride the biggest rides at the fair.

Saul is actually a better singer than Trent (IMHO)

I won't mention my personal highlights of this album.
Check it from front to back.
It's a genuine trip!!!

PAY.

This is going to sound fucked up, but...why?

...Also, I'm not going to sit here and lie and be a hypocrite, and say I've never Limewire'd anything before, because I have.

Basically, what I'm getting from the what the site is saying is, "You can pay us, or we can just give it to you for free." Although, I'm willing to bet something's up with that - if you don't pay, you probably get a form letter from Saul and Trent verbally bitch-slapping you or something...or does that just sound paranoid. lol

from my POV, it's worth it to support the new style of music distribution they're trying to promote here. plus, i bet if you don't pay Trent shows up at your doorstep when you least expect it to beat you to a bloody pulp. nod

lol ...Okay, so let me get this straight : Trent showing up on my doorstep would be a punishment?! eek

What new style of music distribution? I've seen music offered for sale on official sites before.

I also know that from an ethical, moral standpoint, that you should pay for a product you receive. But like I've said, I've just ahem...acquired...music for free before - now, I should get all haughty about it and pay the five bucks? Especially since, even on the official site, I've been given a choice not to?

It says nice 'n' clear in black and white that there are no strings attached, if you want to d/l it for $0.

But, c'mon, 5 bucks ain't gonna break your bank when you think about how much time and money they put in to make this monster!
What's Saul's day job? I bet it ain't rocket science. He's more like a social scientist. He just put his brain out there for you to pick at, for zero-five.

Five dollars is practically(sp?) nothing. Go for it!

Dude - I know what it says, I read it. lol

And Yes, I know it costs money to create music. In a weird way though, I'd feel like a stupid fucking hypocrite going, "Oh, wow - I should pay", when roughly half the time, I don't anyway.

But, for this one (anongst others), there is a line of...

aww, shit! Just pay the five bucks and get it!

Or not.
That's up to you.
The music is worth more than five, IMHO.

...Sarcastic, much?

No shit, Sherlock. I know it's pretty clear cut. At this point, I'm just "thinking out loud" about it, so to speak.

The only way I can describe it, is like....Okay, say I'm in a candy store that I normally steal from. One day the owner comes out and says, "You guys can have this candy for free, or you can pay and support this store and keep it up and running." I'm standing there, staring at the candy, trying to decide what I'm gonna do, while other people pass with theirs, hand the owner five bucks, and give me looks like, "How dare you."

You're a music fan. That's great. So am I. But I'm not going to sit here and lie about the methods by which I acquire music.

Yes, I am a sarcastic bastard.
Yes, my name is Sherlock.
Yes, I am a music fan.

In this case, an artist gives you the option to buy his art, or just take it.
Put this same scenereo in a situation where you have to confront the actual producer of the product.
You say, "I've heard of this and read about it online. It seems to be something special".
They say, "I'm thankful for your patronage, if you would like our product, you can have it. However, a $5 donation would help us tremendously to continue producing our art.

The alternative is-
An artist goes through the big-league routes and gets jack for his music because it gets raped for all (and more than) it's worth from every middleman that can get his cock in the mix.

Do you understand?

...Don't you have a sparkling, lovely personality?

If it was your work, I'd steal multiple copies right in front of your face and run away cackling. However, I get the feeling that, once I listened to it, I'd end up just using them as coasters. *shrug*

...At any rate...

What's with this "do you understand" shit? My reading comprehension and reasoning abilities are just fine. And Yes, I'm aware of the shit that goes on with regard to artists and the record companies. You're not telling me anything I haven't known for a while now, and I've still continued downloading.

Besides, most of the shit coming out through record companies nowadays is absolute shit. When I hear about kids stealing that shit, I can't fucking blame them.

After a little thought, what's being done here with this album is clever - people are basically being forced to confront illegal downloading and decide where they stand on it, and whether or not they'll. And, like you said, this is also giving a "face", in a sense, to the artists that are being stolen from.
