From what I've seen on this site, most of them condider it to be either "Sign O The Times" or "Lovesexy". However, there is another crop of them that would say "The Gold Experience". It's hard to say. They argue it out all the time over there.

Prince's Bitchy Diva Attitude sucks ass! I don't give a damn about a star being a star (At least, I don't think I do.). A snobbish diva is like the girlfriend of a nightmare that walks all over you and would blow snot on your grave, if something could protect her body and face from the residual stain. They don't know that their stool samples reek of the most putrid odors. O like all of the guy's work in the 80's and some of the 90's, but other than that, he's a little blistered, yeast infected twat!

Well lets honest here, this is all about control nothing more. Prince is upset that people are not over at 3121 talking, they are on other sites talking, and he cant control that, over at 3121 anything can and will be deleted. As for the other icons like him, I think they all to some extent embraced their websites, I know Mariah Carey despite having an Official Club, has also allowed a site like MariahDaily to flourish and has given them exclusives many times, and Mariah is a star, she looks it, walks it, talks it, struts it 24/7 like a star and still is for the most part open to other sites doing their thing. The issue here is that Prince will come off as being nothing but a "secluded extrovert", which is cool if thats what he wants to do, but he cant play it up like he's two things, on one hand doing interviews saying hes normal and approachable and then in the next breath taking down sites that discuss him, its one or the other and he needs to choose who he is.

If there's one thing he's failed at (besides rap, lol) is failing to cater to people who put him where he is in the first place - his fans. At the end of the day, they're all a star has anyway. Hopefully he WILL see the light but I'm doubting that right now.

Madonna values her fans and her fame. She doesn't take either for granted. There are a million Madonna clips on YouTube and she doesn't care one bit. She's smart enough to realize that it's just more promotion for her and her music. It's too bad that Prince doesn't view it that way confused

Oh tell me about it! nod And even The WB Music Group would still post Madonna videos from time to time.

Beside them, you can also ask the same question about the potential of other recording artists doing the same thing that Prince is doing, which is basically going freaking rogue by declaring war on fan sites.

This is a sad day to be a fan of music at the moment. sad

Oh, I agree. Sometimes I think he takes the bitch diva role a little too far but I would never want to see him being one of those stars that stands on the edge of the stage after a performance and shakes hands and signs autographs for any and everybody that wants one. I like his larger than life untouchable image. I also like his mysterious image. If he were to do too much talking, we would soon find out that he's just a normal average everyday guy that just happens to be very talented. We might even get bored with him.

I've been bored with Prince for a LONG time. lol

I don't think I've ever gotten fully bored with Prince himself except for certain albums. What I got bored with a long time ago, were the Prince fans who thought he could do no wrong and thought the sun rose and set on his ass. You know the kind, the ones that write sentences full of "u's", "2's", "4's" and use that damn eye symbol for the word "I". They also talk in puzzles like Prince does. That's being a fan to the point of being obsessive. Hell, if Prince does that, hey, that's him. They need to find something to make themselves original.

For me, Prince exists in the 70's, 80's and early 90's...and I don't really give a shit about what came after. I came to the org for the Music: Non Prince discussion.

nod That's the Prince-era that I miss the most musically. IMO, Emancipation was the final chapter of that timeline.

When I think of Prince, I always think of the guy from 1978-1984 that had a style of his own and the sound was definately "Prince". From 1985 to the present, I don't even consider that music "Prince" music (meaning Prince being strictly Prince), I consider those years as Prince immitating his heros he grew up with such as James Brown, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, etc. It's great music but it doesn't even feel like I'm listening to the same guy I listened to from 1978-1984. It's hard to explain. It's not like he's grown but it's like he's a completely different person altogether.

I still buy each and every album. Hell, I have to. I love funk and who else is making funk these days except Prince? But I come to the org mainly for the "Music: Non-Prince" section. I go over to the Prince section once in a while out of boredom when too many current music threads take over this section. It's always fun to make a Lawrence Welk comment about the "Parade" album and watch the fams go crazy. lol

Most pop music critics and fans alike would say Sign 'O' The Times.

Funk fans would say Dirty Mind or 1999.

Rock fans would say Purple Rain.

Nope! Though, i've actually witnessed Madonna mistreat/diss some of her fans who in turn ate it up! Nope, I don't think they would. Well, I hope not. I just think that they're more concerned with making a good/great album for the fans as oppose to being petty and stabbing them in the back! Yeah, stabbing them/us in the back! Some have sense enough not to shit where they eat!

Amen! Amen! AMEN!!!!!

I'm glad to see someone else finds that album as boring as I do. That's definately his worst album. How the hell does the same man go from funky ass jams like "Let's Work" or "Lady Cab Driver" to "sitting on a stool picking on a guitar" shit like "The Truth". It was like Prince gone Hee Haw. Hell, I felt like I was listening to Buck Owens and Roy Clark rather than Prince. I knew when pop fans got into Prince it was going to ruin him. lol

What's worse, he stripped down the best jam from "3121" which is "Love" and made it sound Hee Hawish and there were over 200 positive responses to it over in the Prince section. I'm thinking "Y'all need to shut the fuck up because you'll have Prince doing country music next". It's probably a good thing though because Prince seems to do the opposite of what his fans want. Yeah, that's right Prince, make a country/western album and mix it with shit hop and orchestras. lol
